Should go after and prosecute, punish and fine all the company's CEO, HR managers who laying off the American workers and hiring H1B workers for their own benefits. I just don't get it how the company claimed H1B workers receiving lower pays while most of the H1B families can afford to buy nice houses and driving new cars? Just stop it for good and give those jobs to our university graduated young Americans.

A little too late, if they focused on hiring Americans there would have been significantly more demand in those industries and Americans would've pursued it en masse. Microsoft and most tech companies are heavily west coast based which is where the fewest Americans live. If they expanded throughout the country. The benefits to the country as a whole would've been immense.

I wonder why Microsoft laid 6000 Americans off, but still keeping 6,300 H1-B employees? Is that because its CEO is from India?
I love the logic of these people. A wealth tax will drive rich people away, crashing the local economy, then just getting used to paying the new taxes.
But literally taking away the recruiting tool one of the biggest companies in the country, and by extension the world, will not force it to operate more in other countries, oh no.
The Jobs will just move to Corporate offices set up in India or other low-wage low-tax jurisdictions…… then you lose both the Jobs and the Tax revenue and the economic impact which those workers bring to supporting businesses like compute, cars, travel, housing, restaurants, leisure etc. Its already happening… this pushes the accelerator down harder.

Indian IT Companies and Indian Management companies like Microsoft/TCS/Infosys/Wipro/Capgemini/Adobe etc don't like to hire Americans. They enjoy looting American Jobs back door without advertising them. They are exactly like Mafia or Drug Cartels looting American Jobs.

H1 b has been abused by Indian companies for 30 years. Lets take Tata for example, a very large company.
They will open an office in the US
They will post a few vacancies and say Americans are not qualified and then will apply for H1B. During this time, Rajesh and his extended family pack their bags and catch a flight from Bombay to Texas.

I call BS on no qualified Americans. INDIA invested heavily in STEM in the 70s.
Living in Seattle, I had a web programming friend having to look for employment post graduation, in the Netherlands, and was arguing with Workers Assistance, who claimed his applying for a job oversees didn't count for his 4 job contacts a week. He pointed out he had everything Microsoft wanted, followed what they wanted in a degree that they had heavy input into and designed most of the curriculum for at ALL 6 collages, and he could not get in because he wanted a livable wage. He had advanced degrees.
I met a guy with 3 doctorates of mathematics picking books at Amazon, because he couldn't get into any positions that his math degrees should have opened for him… He chose Amazon, because it had at the time a habit from hiring from the inside the temp workers. This is when I'd watch Bezos come down from upstairs and pick books if Seattle needed to pick up the slack for the other warehouses at the time, when he was willing to get sweaty. They emphasized pristine buy it for your granny condition books. Not the nice one, the other one that was particular.
The foreign engineers bring their families, their wives compete for entry level work and labor jobs with the rest of us. So there is that we contend with.
28 years ago I couldn't get into kitchen prep, Something I had 10 years experience with and ordering supplies. I didn't speak Mandarin Chinese, and any form of Spanish. The white business owners had whites in the front of the house. I'm not a customer service personality.

Great opportunity to hire the same engineers in India at 20% cost. The jobs in US can be replaced by AI and US engineers don't have the skillset.
H1B's are for when we have a shortage of talent. We are overflowing with skilled tech workers being laid off or cut for cheap labor (while they claim it's AI). Bring back American tech jobs to the skilled workers right here!
