I counted the signed agreements: four out of the touted 20 deals actually have legal signatures. The rest are vague partnerships or roadmaps that never become contracts.
Carney’s $70 billion “Canada Strong” figure translates to nothing in domestic investment. In June the Emirates were told to hold off because there’s no project for their money to fund.
Canada now faces its worst trade deficit since 2020 and has shed 50,000 manufacturing jobs, a direct fallout of the failed diversification push.
