Johnson’s confidence is more about what he is prepared to do on Jan 3rd. Johnson is fully prepared to fire the house secretary, install a loyalist and not seat Democrats on the basis of bogus claims of fraud. This will trigger a protracted period of legal battles during which Johnson remains the speaker.
