Authorities are investigating what prompted a 16-year-old to enter his former elementary school in Bend, Oregon, and open fire inside a special education classroom Thursday. Three children and a young teacher were killed in the shooting, and investigators are working to determine what led to the attack. The suspect, identified as Griffin J. John II, was a former student at Silver Rail Elementary and had previously been in special education, police said. Authorities say he fired through locked glass doors to enter the school before opening fire. A teacher tried to stop him by throwing a cellphone and tackling him, while a father of two students pursued the gunman and fatally shot him. A 7-year-old student and another teacher were also injured. The motive remains unclear.

in my old school in Philippines, our schools are barricaded and entrance had metal detectors, the movie dangerous minds,seems like that type, i think schools need to be more secured now.i had to request for a security that atleast will be trained maybe 7 months to guard schools

If the mother bought the gun then arrest her, if she had not bought him a gun this tragedy might not have happened. She is just as responsible.

I'm guessing the shooter had some disability since he used to be a student at the very class he chose to target. It must be stated that having a disability is NO excuse to commit any kind of crime, let alone murder. I could care less if you're autistic, schizophrenic or even intelectrually disabled. If you geniunely know right from wrong and you commit a crime anyway, you WILL be held accountable.

"See something. Say something." is BS. Red Flag Laws are unconstitutional. They violate the rights of the targeted individual. If you have not committed a crime, you are not subject to legal actions that take away your rights. Taking away your rights is supposed to happen after you commit the crime and are convicted in a court of law. Red Flag Laws do not prevent crimes or punish criminals. They punish law abiding gun owners, which is what they created to do. They take away our right to defend ourselves, our families and our communities. That is not the answer.
Making schools more secure is the answer. If the parent whose pickup truck was shot up outside the school had been armed, the shooter would likely have been stopped before entered the school. Lives would have been saved. You can't prevent criminals from committing crimes. You can't prevent a murderer from arming themselves and at least attempting to commit a murder. You can't ban all lethal weapons.
There are any number of things that can be used as a lethal weapon. The best you can do is make sure that people who are there are armed and able to defend. That is common sense. Putting obstacles like locked doors in the way helps, but only slows them down. This is a perfect example of how security measures alone are never going to be enough. Anti-gun laws and gun-free zones don't work. They create soft targets. Just like this school. Police arrived in minutes. It was all over by the time they got there.
His parents need to be held accountable just like the crumbleys and the mother whose son shot his teachers in the hand and foot.
Imagine how many more students would have died, and teachers as well. Had it not been for those brave armed citizens to step in and help but yet everyone complains about gun control
Please people. There is no such thing as gun control. You can't control black market guns. When people want guns, they're going to get them, no matter what.

My heart really breaks for the small children being hurt or killed. I pray for these little angels' parents and families. Any older person who preys on a younger one is a total coward. What has a small child done to you?!? If you feel someone did you wrong, you can appeal to the justice system. How can a teenager legally own a firearm?!? Teenagers can suffer fits or temper tantrums, or act more rashly than a grown up.
