P and B sounds: a simple speech therapy trick to help your child tell them apart.
P or B? Your lips do the same thing for both. Here’s the trick.
1. Press your lips together, then pop them open.
2. Hold a tissue in front of your mouth and say “pa.” The tissue moves! P is a puff of air.
3. Say “ba” with a hand on your throat. Feel the buzz? B turns your voice on.
Make it a game: puff for pig and pie, buzz for ball and bee.
If you hear “big” for “pig,” just say “pig” back with a little puff. No need to correct.
