I have a n64 and GameCube and when I bring my games and n64 to my friends house to play on his crt, it’s so annoying when a game doesn’t have a mono option because you know it won’t sound good on stereo
"No wonder why we stopped using them" me who is using an old lg tv connected using a hdmi to component adapter which is connected to my 5090 😂😂, currently watching the video on this
There was another use for example if you had an dvd player that could also play cd 💿 then you could have only the soround sound connected without the video
These are still used today. If you have a separate surround sound processor (AV Preamp) and a standalone amplifier. Although they are being replaced with Balanced cables which use an XLR plug (same jack used for professional Microphones). Car audio still uses RCA's going out from the head unit to the amp.
When's the last time you repaired an HDMI cable by replacing the connector on the end? Or made a custom cable to carry monaural Line Out audio from your scanner receiver to the stereo Line In of your amplifier?
RCA may be old, but it's a defacto standard for analog audio and video.
Older HDMI had issues with mismatched devices, where the audio would cut out randomly and require sometimes power cycling the various devices in the correctborder to get it working again.
