Grant gets lots of hate, but sadly in the real world he saved lots of lives by ending the war much faster. He did what he had to I have lots of respect for grant. Loss of life would have been far worse without him live in reality. Why wars should be avoided! But when your in no other choices your all in

Grant forced three different Confederate armies to entirely surrender to him. Lee could not even crush one Union army.
