It’s about who actually copied whom. I’ve been tracking the leaks and supply chain for months, and I think the evidence points in one direction. So let’s compare the Galaxy Z Fold 8 with Apple’s first foldable and see what really happened behind the scenes.

  1. Samsung has been at this for YEARS. They released concepts for the "Samsung Youm flexible display" in 2013, The demo/marketing video really sold that dream for me as a teen during that time; that someday in the future, we'd have folding and flexible screens. We haven't quite reaches the 2nd concept that the screen rolls out like a digital scroll but ever since I saw that commercial, I always looked forward to having that tech someday. Fast forward to September 2026, I just got my Fold 8, upgrading from my Flip 5. <3 Also, SAMSUNG literally supplies the SCREENS for Apple.

  2. The thing is 1st gen products is what Apple tends to avoid it’s may be the first for them but the wait a very long time until they feel it’s truly ready to roll so I don’t really worry about that at all with Apple products

  3. I'm sorry but does anybody remember the Microsoft Surface Duo and Duo2? This formfactor was theirs years ago. Neither Apple nor Samsung "invented" this formfactor. I still use my Duo and love it. I have purchased a Z fold 8 and will move over to it only because Microsoft once again gave up on a perfect phone design and just let it die on the vine stupidly.

  4. Fact is: Both copied the design.
Forgot we already had "passport" style foldables some years ago already?😂
And Samsung did make the cover display wider.. That's litteraly why it's more like a regular phone when closed than the first 2-3 models…
You even covered that fact yourself🙈

  5. Samsung has developed and released the foldable phones for 8 years while Apple was struggling to make a foldable phone. And Apple finally copied the latest Samsung foldable phone, and they're claiming Samsung copied them lol

  6. Hey Sal, why don't you do a video on whether Apple copied Google's foldable design? Your creator friends love talking about how others copied Apple, but not so much about who Apple copied. Once again, Apple's just borrowing other designs. It's not like they're bringing something new to the market first. They're just imitators, not innovators anymore.

  7. Sorry to burst your bubble. But recommending the fold 8 before even iPhone is out shows Ur bias. And Ur rant about first gen is bs. For example Samsung made the same ridiculous skinny fold gen after gen and only changed when they saw others are doing it. And pixel fold first gen did well and that's Google (not a great hardware company) then remember apple perfects things be it a flop like the air it's still technically outstanding in it's own niche category. But nice diddy

  8. I really wanted to buy this device but after learning that the IP rating is only 48, i was disappointed. I think I will need to hold on to my Honor Magic V5 a little longer for this has an IP58 rating, and this is a 2025 phone. 🥹🥹

  9. I’m Korean, and while I like the external design of Samsung’s Z Fold 8, but its aspect ratio definitely follows that of Apple’s iPhone Ultra—and I don’t think there’s any reason to criticize Samsung for that.
Personally, I judge that Samsung has simply made a very clever choice to leverage the design—which embodies the philosophy of its competitor, Apple—for free, while staying well within the bounds of what is indisputable.
In the history of displays, the 4:3 and 16:10 aspect ratios have been in use for a long time and have always been successful. The mere fact that Samsung used the exact same aspect ratio that Apple adopted for the iPhone Ultra cannot lead to a legal dispute.

So why did Samsung wait until now to adopt the same aspect ratio as Apple’s iPhone Ultra, even though numerous “wide foldable form factors” have been on the market for some time?

Apple may be open to debate on the “technical side,” but it is an undisputed expert in “design philosophy” and “user experience.” They delve deeply into creating excellent aesthetics and user experiences, to the point of obsessing over even the tiniest design details.
In contrast, the numerous Chinese-made “wide foldable form factors” that have hit the market so far are nothing more than random, weird aspect ratios—just as Samsung has always done with its Z Fold series. However, an opportunity has now arisen to try out—albeit only partially—Apple’s expensive, expert-designed blueprint for free. And Samsung likely viewed this as a bet with a fairly high success rate, considering it’s a free trial. Furthermore, Samsung further minimised the risk of failure by simultaneously launching a narrow, elongated foldable device—renamed the Z Fold 8 Ultra—which follows on from its existing form factor.
Yet there's a weakness here as well. Apple developed the form factor based on its pre-existing philosophy and purpose; since the design emerged from that underlying intent, they likely already know exactly how to utilize the hardware of that form factor. In contrast, Samsung must look solely at the device’s “form” and work backward to deduce the intent behind that design.

  10. when the price of the phone you are buying is higher than the weed you smoke! You need to upgrade your THC and weed not your phones. Damn! That’s high!
You want some of z shit? Nah man! I will reup next month. That’s high too! More than this shit wee smoking? $300 higher !

  11. let us pray; DMX! I thank you lord for today. As I pray for tomorrow, I thank you lord for letting me resist the temptation. Despite how good the trade in offer was. There is something after Samsung! September is just around the corner. Lord you know how you showed me the light. If the prices are crazy high! I might as well roll up a spliff. Take a puff for you and Jesus. Telling Apple to take a hike. Just like Samsung 😅 🙏

  12. iPhone Ultra is DOA. Samsung copped the best form factor right away. Apple's foldable has an inferior form factor, and those rounded edges are meh, one side of the iPhone ultra will be flat while the other is rounded? wtf were they thinking omg…..

  13. Why buy any foldable phone you might lose your life over. When someone who can’t afford one comes to take it from you by any means necessary? It isn’t worth dying over a phone you spent $2k on, only to end up where you can never upgrade anything in this world again. Stick up kids will take lives for these things. Before Apple and Samsung gets the message. Times are hard. Hustling ain’t easy, but a $2k stick up pays the bill.
