I genuinely hate the new form factor… I've been using folding phones since the fold 4 across a couple different companies. Currently using the 8 ultra… The passport style is just unusable to me. Maybe I'm in the minority.. my preference has been and will always be a standard phone like form factor when closed and a nice large canvas when open.
Samsung and Apple both copied their passport phones from the Microsoft surface duo, in fact Apple literally took the duo from the Microsoft surface Duo and put it into the Apple iPhone duo. With that being said I own the Microsoft surface Duo and I've had it for 6 years and it's still in perfect condition and it is a master class and workmanship. What's that being said now you understand why I had to get the z fold 8 as soon as possible but when I got it I was just a little bit disappointed because it's literally smaller tall and width wise and I really wish it was the same size as the Microsoft surface duo. You can also use a pen on the Microsoft surface Duo. I really hope that with the z fold 9 that they have a regular one a Plus version and a ultra version and so they're still passport shaped but the plus would be about 15% bigger taller and wider wise and the ultra would be 25% bigger taller wider wise. I absolutely love my z-fold 8 but I'm really looking forward to them improving on this form factor.
If you have z fold 8 ultra! Use the arrows to make you tube show the video in full display with black bars then pinch the screen out no black bars zoom to fit! Full screen display!
meh. after the fold 6, 7, i went back to the ultra series. not a big fan of 2nd rate camera system and lack of s-pen. maybe next time.
If they would add in a flagship camera, space for the SPen, increase the IP rating, etc. I will likely buy the WIDER version if released. I own a S25 Ultra now which is an absolute beast, but just hanging to see what Samsung does now that they actually have some competition with Apple FINALLY joining the party.

I think they will take the huewei pure x view size. And just make that a foldable. And that makes sense. Ironically Microsoft was too early with the duo

A wider fold is stupid. The passport design is perfect. Bring in the s-pen, privacy display, speakers on both sides and we have a game changer.

Z fold 8 with no s-pen felt like a gut punch. I took that personally. Fix that in the next one and I'll get one.

The main screen size for that Z Fold would be 8.6” to 9.3” if its height remains the same.
I want a wider shorter z fold ultra with same cameras as the ultra series if not then i would def pick up the new wider z fold that sounds fantastic for media and work.
I don't think it would make much sense for Samsung's 2027 foldable phone lineup to feature five different models.
The Z Fold 9 Ultra, the Z Flip 9 and the Tri-Fold 2 should simply be worthwhile updates of the current models.
I think the Z Fold 9 should be a radical redesign. Make the Z Fold 9 a bigger phone, with a 16:9 screen aspect ratio, a better cooling solution inside the phone, better cameras (including a telephoto lens), redesigned hinges that allow for flex mode, speakers on both sides of the phone when it is opened, etc. In other words, make the Z Fold 9 a 16:9 wide aspect ratio phone that is every bit the equal of the Z Fold 9 Ultra.
With the introduction of the Galaxy Z Fold 8, I'm now open to buying a foldable phone- but I'll be holding on to my Galaxy S24 Ultra (I decided to get the battery replaced yesterday at UBreakiFix) until the Z Fold 9 gets here, and then I'll make a buying decision on which new phone (maybe Samsung, maybe not). Hopefully the Z Fold 9 will correct many of the shortcomings of the Z Fold 8.
Two things from me: MicroSD ( OR they offer 2TB option ) & IP68
The name would be perhaps Galaxy Z Fold9+.
Make IP68 and bring back the under the display camera.
Tri-fold😂 We went from Fold to Tri-fold but it only has TWO hinges (or folds) so Samsung named it wrong😂 It's in reality a dual fold. Not a tri-fold.
Cool. Now bring back the 16:9 format in every video and bring back the 9:16 in smartphones and finally get rid of the 19,5:9 stupid format.

If we were to widen the fold9 ultra so it’s about the same screen dimensions of the s series, give it better front cameras, and actually give it spen support even if it makes the phone a bit thicker, that would be absolutely perfect
I just feel it doing unnessary and it will cost alot by expanding the lineup.Already smartphones components are skyrocketing.Better to just increase the aspect ratios of the successor of the fold 8 rather than just expanding the lineup

What took foldable phone manufacturers this long to figure this out? I want a phone that turns into a tablet specifically for content consumption. Make the FOLD that is 16:9 inside and 4:3 outside for the older more square content. I really could not care less about their incremental improvements in other areas I never requested.
What I want is:
(1) Expandable storage for more content to consume
(2) Longer battery life through efficiency and larger battery…please stop running all your AI and data reporting in the background
(3) Faster charging (As in LESS TIME whatever the wattage is)
(4) MagSafe/QI2 magnets BUILT IN
(5) WATCH IN SUNLIGHT BRIGHT SCREEN THAT STAYS BRIGHT WITHOUT AUTOBRIGHTNESS
Z Fold9 (wide), Z Fold 9 Plus (new wider concept), Z fold9 Pro ( regular what we now), Z fold 9 Ultra (trifold)?
The cover screen will be harder to use 1 hand its already complicated, making the ztri fold 16:9 inner display is the more practical decision, the cover display on the trifold if they made it the same deminsion as s26 ultra they could easily accomplish 16:9 aspect ratio because with the standard fold you either have to compromise cover or inner display you can't get a full 2 in 1 thats the whole point of the ztrifold, I feel like they should focus on a cheaper trifold instead of counting the classic form factor zfold 9 ultra

Ha you cannot make wider without losing the grabability in one hand. Iphone ultra already has slightly wider width and that's the max we can go.
Moving forward, it’s probably better to make it wider than the previous one, keep the camera exactly the same as the Fold Ultra, and include an S Pen.
wider?! not for humans to hold then? the fold 8 barely grips into larger than average sized hands! perhaps the right move to reduce doom scrolling – make the device uncomfortable, charge thrice its reasonable price..
