A summer of 9 weeks and a winter of 9 months, that's already 11 months and 1 week, so then 3 weeks of autumn and 1 of spring? Either way it's impressive how people manage to survive there! I myself would miss the autumn too much, I need at least 2 months of it every year.
I just love Kiun's voice ❤… I can listen to her talk all day long her voice is so soothing and relaxing…. Kiun's voice truly calms and helps relax me….. Plus, I get to learn so many interesting and new things about other cultures and way other families live…..
I wonder whether altitude mountaineering clothing, designed for the highest peeks of the world, would be warm enough?

I love those videos of yours. It really humbles us to see them prepare so carefully but also so patiently and diligently for the harshest of winters. It gets to -40 celcius where I live but that's as cold as it gets, and only for a few days each year. I don't think I can comprehend how -70 can feel like.
I wonder why these people are still living there in these harsh situations… why cant they move into somewhere safe and secure places…..just asking out of my curiosity 🙂🤷♂️❤

It takes a special type of grit and tenacity to live a life like this. My tropical islander ass would start cracking and peeling after 10 minutes in the middle of winter here. I'm built for hot and humid and can be comfortable in 37°C (100°F) with no serious issues after a couple weeks of exposure.

When I was growing up the house we lived in in small town Nova Scotia was like a hundred years old and had no basement and my dad used to put plastic to cover the windows and also around the bottom of the house he would build a little enclosure around the bottom of the houseand put in eelgrass to keep the warmth in😮 we had a gigantic oil stove that we had to refill the can to keep warm and it was expensive so we didn't keep it on all night every winter and I can remember waking up and your feet would freeze touching the floors😮
She is a real woman,a real mother,Americas went nuts completely.This is heart warming to see,it still exists.

I have a question. You mentioned that during winter the heating (burning of wood) should always be on and if off, the house will freeze in an hour. Does this mean that there should be at lease someone at home all of the time, to make sure that from one side that the heating does not go down and from another side there there would be no fire?

Over here it's still max 32°C and feels like 50°C, it won't go down until 2nd week of November, and our "winter" temperatures ranges from 30°C to 7°C 😂
