Trump, his family, the billionaires, and all the special interest lobbyists knew that this was their last-best chance to loot the treasury and make a fortune while they had "their guy" in office rigging the game for them. The only reason Trump cares about GOP controlling the government is so he can avoid potential court cases when he's out of office. And I think Trump himself knows that his time on this Earth is probably limited so he won't even have to feasibly worry about any of that.
