  1. Because every guitar and bass sounds best outdoors when there's no amp or cord hooked up to it.
Meantime, at DC Comics when they stupidly let their Batwoman copyright lapse for awhile…

  2. I watched She Was a Hippy Vampire back in ’77 while hunting for obscure 60s sci‑fi. The whole “mad scientist + hearing‑device” plot instantly reminded me of The Day the Earth Stood Still*’s “horror‑science” vibe. Batwoman’s costume is a weird mash of 60s mod and comic book pulp—very reminiscent of the 1965 Italian film *La ragazza dalla pelle di seta where the heroine’s outfit was designed to look like a disco dress and a trench coat at once. The dance‑party montage is a direct nod to the Bourne dance scene from The Italian Gigolo (1963). Great throwback!

  3. I’m still reeling from The Return of the Blue Demon in 1972 – the one where the villain’s cryo‑suit turns the whole town into a disco of blood. That’s the vibe this “Hippy Vampire” film tries to capture, but the soundtrack is a straight‑up 70s funk nightmare. I love the way the mad scientist’s hearing‑device looks like a giant, glittering eye‑phone, but the action sequences feel like a badly edited dance‑hall VHS. Still, the Batgirl choreography is oddly charming if you’re into that retro grindhouse groove. A cult gem that makes you want to smash the “play” button again.

  4. I can't say that I ever remember hearing of "Bat Woman" but the movie was fun to watch, nonetheless! Corny, yes, but many of the movies from that era were and mostly they were just good fun .. harmless fun and lots of pretty girls, beach parties, 60's dance-styles, weak plots .. this movie just brought back many nice memories from a really good time to be alive! I could easily watch it again just to enjoy the "Bat Girls" :^) .. Thank you for posting this fun, old movie!

  5. Yes! It's me again, the expression Retro Sci-Fi should apply only to films made today in the style of past decades. Like a 2026 film pretending to be an 80's or 50's movie. That's what retro means. Ex: If bell bottoms came back into fashion it would be retro fashion. As for cult it is reserved for films that werent' a commercial success, but accumulated a following overtime. Not every vintage piece of crap is a Cult Movie! Plus anybody can go to the IMDb site and check on the ratings. This movie has a 1.9 score on IMDb. Cult movies have high ratings. You're just uploading poop and trying attract audiences by putting some lipstick on a pig. With a minimum of effort anybody can find good highly rated cult movies on youtube. If you take the t out of cult it makes cul which means ass in French.

  6. This is another one of those oddities that I would have never heard of had it not been featured on mst3k. Despite their own reaction to it I loved it. It is so weird that it becomes something kinda wonderful. When I bought the DVD it had the mst3k version as well as the uncut version. I've watched both about an equal amount of times, although those comments made by Mike and the bots are permanently etched in my mind I cannot unhear them. This such a 60's product. I like the idea that Bat Woman had no other identity than Bat Woman and we never see her face, although she does appear in another Jerry Warren movie called Teenage Zombies, which is nowhere as entertaining as The Wild World of Bat Woman. On its Wikipedia page it is regarded as being "one of the worst movies ever made." I couldn't disagree more, and wish this hyperbolic title would be retired. Nothing this much fun can be bad. But you're talking to a guy who loves Rat Pfink a Boo Boo and the fever dream concoctions of Coleman Francis and Ed Wood. Trash, yes, but fun trash.

  7. A wee bit of camp on a gloomy Saturday morning in the Willamette Valley of Oregon. Thank us for your lawns and Nutella. We grow the nation's hazelnuts and grass seed. It's harvest time for the hazelnuts. We called them filberts until they got trendy.
