The Dark Truth Behind “The Early Spring” C-Drama. Why Everyone Is Ignoring This Drama’s Red Flags!

Luan Nian just spent 5 episodes chasing a woman who told him “no” more than once, and somehow half of you are calling him boyfriend material while the other half are calling HR. That’s the exact contradiction I want to dig into today. This show has more red flags than a construction site, yet it’s the most talked-about C-drama on the internet right now, and I’m going to tell you exactly why that’s happening, scene by scene. Stay until the end, because I’m putting this drama’s central power-imbalance trope side-by-side with a drama that did it a decade earlier, and the difference tells you exactly where this story is headed. If you’re into breakdowns like this, subscribe now, because we’ve got a lot more to unpack.

  1. The Early Spring is one of the best Asian romance dramas I’ve ever seen. It is incredibly sensual without needing to show too much—the lingering looks, subtle gestures, and unspoken emotions say everything. The office romance feels believable, and although some moments are slightly exaggerated, that only makes the story more enticing. The chemistry between the two leads feels so natural that I could watch this drama all over again. I hope future romance dramas use The Early Spring as a model—and Jing Boran’s quiet confidence and magnetic persona make him incredibly sexy. This drama is beautifully made, and I’m completely in love with it!

  2. I love this show so much. I love the chemistry between them. I love the tension. I love Luke he is captivating and gorgeous. Tough on the outside and a pushover inside. He shows he needs her more than she needs him but hides it.

  3. Shush 🤫… this is the BEST drama this month! 😭❤️
I’ve seen WAY more toxic C-dramas than this one! 😂

At least he genuinely wants to protect her, even if, yes, he keeps hurting her with his behaviour and the things he says. ( Luck need a good smacked..😅)

I’ve been on the edge of my seat every time he reacts too strongly towards her, thinking, please don’t let this push them apart! 😭

What I love about their relationship is how much they’ve both been growing because of each other.

He’s been teaching her to stand up for herself and helping her become the strong, confident woman she’s growing into at work. He guides and protects her, but at the same time, she’s learning how to stand firmly on her own two feet.

And she’s changing him too. ❤️

His hard, guarded heart has slowly been melting. Day by day, we’ve been seeing this softer, more vulnerable side of him that he rarely allows anyone to see.

I understand why they struggle so much. They were raised so differently. His father was hard on him, and he never really experienced the kind of warmth, reassurance and emotional safety that she brings into his life. That’s why their relationship feels like so much more than steamy romance, they’re both learning and growing.

I love it when he shields her in those moments when she genuinely needs his protection or support, but she also needs him to recognise when she can stand on her own. In those moments, he needs to step back, respect her strength and cheer her on.

Most importantly, HE NEEDS TO TRUST HER! 😭😂❤️

Trust her judgement. Trust her strength. And trust her love for him without completely losing his mind every time his fear of losing her takes over! 😂

But the ONE thing that drives me absolutely crazy is…
THEY. DON’T. TALK. TO. EACH. OTHER. 😭😂

Half their problems could probably be solved by ONE proper conversation!

But at the same time, I love that despite all the misunderstandings, hurt feelings and stubbornness, they keep learning, growing…and somehow finding their way back to each other.

Best drama on air right now.

  4. I love this drama. I found it captivating and enjoyable. I have not noticed the inconsistencies, mostly because they are not important. Although, I need to acknowledge that I don’t really sit well with ML harsh language. To me it is a major red flag and personally. I wouldn’t go back to a man that speaks to me like that. But, I still love this drama, and I rewatch every single episode at least twice afterwards.

  5. The reason I'm not into the drama is not the actors, but the script. China has a problem with the Cinderella theme. Tall handsome, rich, arrogant guys and small, poor, controllable women. You would think that a country with a billion people would have great minds to write modern, different, and engaging scripts.

  7. ML kept me riveted to watch the next episode. I found that he was deeply in love with her but he didn’t show it. There were a few misunderstandings on FL behalf which I feel stopped her from committing more to their relationship. Not enough scenes in each episode with the ML and FL.

  8. I like it because it represents a new beginning for Chinese TV series. It is something new and interesting. It is well-made, with great attention to detail—details that speak volumes about the two main characters. Congratulations for the whole team! Move on.

  9. The hypocrisy I see around this show is crazy. Before he even chased her she had put that idea in him she kept on dropping hints and always had one answer. I don’t want to loose my job blah blah never that I don’t want to be in this relationship with you. I don’t see him chasing other girls even through they are ready to throw themselves at him. She says yes to the weekend relationship infact in the novel she asks him to be a sex partner. I have no issues calling the guy out but call the girl out too. He made her stand near the window and all hell broke loose. But it’s funny when she names a dog after him. If this would have been reversed people would be throwing hands and calling him jerk asshole what not . That’s the hypocrisy this show is bringing to light.

  10. I also watched the episode he didn’t force her or anything in the last Scene of ep 4 he tried his best to Control in front of her than in ep 5 he wanted to kiss her when she backed up he also backed up than she kissed him he even asked her if she is sober now or she knows what will happen next she said yess…. It was obvious both of them had feelings for each other and she also wanted the same thing 😂

  11. I don’t think anyone is ignoring that he is red flag, the problem is he is a rainbow flag.. he has many shades of good and bad and that’s why FL is having a hard time to leave him .. I hope soon she will grow a spine and leave him .. I mean who takes six years with no commitment..ML is just taking her for granted and using her for his physical needs…She is such an idiot to agree to his agreement…No wonder luke said she does not have a brain…anyone with brain would never agree to his ridiculous agreement, flora is an example for love makes you blind, stupid and an absolute idiot.. I’m just waiting for their breakup.. FL needs to take action for audience coz we are all pissed by his attitude ..everything aside I really like this FL, when you look at her it feels like you are looking at calm ocean, she has such a peaceful face 🤗🤗

  12. Same stupidity that happened when 50 shades of grade was released. People like this. This is why cheap cdramas sale a lot and why Latin America soup operas sale

  13. Preguntas: qué opinas de este drama? Está genial aunque todavía la mujer sigue siendo inferior y del actor, si está casado, está cometiendo infidelidad legítima ante nuestros ojos 😂

  14. Jing Boran And Sun Quian chemistry is off the chart I love ❤ Early Spring. This is the best drama so far of 2026 i’m such a huge fan of this romantic and steamy, sexy drama 🎭 . I enjoy watching and I’m from America 🇺🇸 I first seen Sun Quian in Meteor Garden and Jin Boran in The Road Home and I’ve been following their careers ever since. I’m such a huge fan of both the these actors I hope this drama ends the way I want it to that they stay together. Yes his character is a jerk a little, obsessed, jealousy and bossy when it comes to her because I think this is his first time being in love, but he don’t realize that though yet. But he’s learned to be a little more come with her throughout the drama.I think he puts her down a lot, because he’s trying to teach her to be more strong and tough in the business that they’re in don’t fall for every easy prey.❤❤ ❤❤❤🥰👍🇺🇸

  16. For me, their relationships were a borderline between toxic and consensual affair. I love that Zhi Tao was strong enough to say no even she was in love with him but was traumatized by his controlling and overbearing treatment.
