I wish I still my had my duel disk. Always wanted the Atlantean one. Worst part about having duel disk is that no one else did so if wanted to play against some I’d just be a douche bag standing with this thing on my arm packed with 60 cards while my opponent is comfortably at the table.

Since XYZ, penulum and link won't work anyway I think the easiest wod be an nfc reader under or rather between monster zone and spell zone. Tokens could you stick on the inside of your sleeves. The type of card would predict of you put in in a monster or spell zone slot.
The reader could read and track both zones obove and below it. The Anime had buttons to activate spells and traps anyway so just copy it. Then you could hide a small membrane button in the triangle on the monster zones thst you can tap or double tap to declare an attack or trigger en effect. Little contact switches in the corner that break when you ide in a card could detect attack or defense position.
The setup with the nfc tags would be tideous the first time but you could probably store all information besides the artwork on it so no I internet connection needed afterwards.
A simple Bluetooth connection could exchange information after connecting / accepting the duel
Please add support for sleeved cards, and please don't put a death grip on them. The latter was my biggest gripe with the original (I didn't know what card sleeves were yet).
A cool design for yu gi oh? Careful konami might try to sue you or shut you down. The duel disk was so unique. Shame that cards didnt fit without sleaves and it jammed alot. Stil was super cool.
