Most people read the 2026 Ford F-150 Tremor as a badge package: orange accents, all terrain tires, a one inch lift, and some Raptor theater. The interesting part is underneath, where Ford put serious driveline hardware into a truck that still fits where a Raptor does not. The catch is the 402A package. To get the Torsen front diff and Hi-Lock transfer case, you also buy the luxury content wrapped around them.
In this review, we drove the 2026 Ford F-150 Tremor 4×4 SuperCrew with the 5.0-liter Coyote V8, ten speed automatic, 33-inch all terrain tires, one inch lift, Torsen front differential, Hi-Lock transfer case, 4A drive mode, 402A High package, 360 camera, BlueCruise, ventilated leather, and Pro Power Onboard. The as tested Canadian press truck is $104,095 CAD, while a comparable US build lands around $82,000. We compare the Tremor’s real hardware against the cheaper F-150 STX with FX4, the wider F-150 Raptor, and the buyer who wants off road capability without desert truck width. Owner intel covers real world 5.0 V8 fuel economy, early tire swaps, 10R80 transmission complaints, and why the 401A versus 402A decision matters.

F-150 Tremor owners: would you buy the 402A again for the Torsen and Hi-Lock case, or would you start with a cheaper truck and build your way back to it?

it costs nearly the same as a ratpor, just buy a fucking raptor
Great review. Thank you. I was considering the Raptor or the Tremor if I got a pickup, and have decided it will be the loaded 402A Tremor. Once I've spent the money I'll forget about the money and love the capabilities. But now I have to decide on whether to get the F150 Tremor 402A pick up, or a Yukon AT4 suv. And I could do some after market work on either, lifts/levels, larger tires, a bit more poke, maybe better components if called for. Handling snowy, icy roads in winter ski country is especially important. Any thoughts on this choice, F150 Tremor 402A versus Yukon AT4?
between chevy and ford, ford has nailed trucks. they look, feel, and drive as a truck should but damn have they made them a lot more comfortable to be in for 12,14,18hrs a day.
Great video, I just bought a 26' Tremor 401A. I'll have to check if I have the trail turn assist. That's a nice feature.
One point I want to make is all these Tremors has the running board on the wrong side. The ford lettering should be on the front. Look at it closely and you can see that they install them wrong at the factory. Apparently the manufacturer stamped them L for left and R for right. Lots of threads on this subject out there. I switched mine.
I just managed to grab a used '25 with the 5.0 and the 402A that had only 4300 miles. Am in love with the truck. It sounds amazing and drive incredibly. Gonna take it up into the mountains with my jumping jack this weekend. Sure am looking forward to it.
Bought the 402B. Has the Torsen and the 3.73 V8. It has substantially all of the stuff from the higher model but with a healthy price difference.
Th problem is that it looks just like another generic F-150. It doesn't show as an 80k truck
I've been in a lot of trucks, but the last two trucks I've owned have both been 3.5TT F150's. I only run premium, so maybe that helps with "turbo lag" (time to torque), but I experience zero lag. The transmission picks a gear and the truck goes. Conversely, the 5.0 now has a wet timing belt driven oil pump and displacement on demand. I'll stick with the TTV6.
It's a sick truck. On the turbo lag topic, I have never felt a lag in power, but when the turbo hits, it really gets up and goes. But if lag bothers someone, then you can keep it in sport mode in the 3.5 EB, then it keeps the truck's RPMs in the turbo sweet spot, but it will give you garbage GPM.
Dude, the raptor is the frame and suspension. Oh boy transfer case. lol.
This guy doesn't know anything about the Tremor and Raptor never walked away from the v8.
Planning to pick up the cheapest Tremor that still comes with the front Torsen. I really wish it could be optioned on the Powerboosts though.
You didn't mention that they did away with the power tilt and telescoping steering column. I have a 2024 Tremor 402A and it has the power tilt and telescopic steering coloumn
There are a lot of great car reviewers on YT, and you just may be the best of them all. Straight and to the point. No fluff. Easy to understand. Appreciate your work!
Great review. I have the pleasure to drive a loaded 2026 Tremor as a loaner while my f150 is in the shop for warranty work. I might be in the market for the Tremor. It is a blast to drive. My favorite thing is the suspension and how it handles. The suspension feels AWESOME !!! Also the high performance Coyote V8 has a great plenty of power and sounds great.
99 percent of the lazy on YouTube really needs to get a job instead of relying on it for a paycheck
Ford redesigned the 10 speed transmission for 2026. They also changed one of the parts and did a reprogramming of the software.
So no more clunky downshifting. I understand it only uses eight of the 10 gears when driving in the city so it doesn't upshift and downshift so much. Google it if you want to learn more.
YES it use clutch packs, that's how 4A works, clutch slippages, however it indeed has mechanical hard lockup in 4H…….
Has anyone put a level kit on there Tremor 2026 5.0 riding on the stock 33’s? If so what size and how’d it ride?
I have the 25 Tremor 401b 5.0 package and honestly haven't missed anything from the upper model. I take it to the beach on a regular basis never have had any issues getting stuck. I tow a camper so even though the crazy front end rake looks odd, it levels perfectly with a load to pull.
I have a 25 3.5 402a. It’s been great off road and in the mud. It doesn’t sound as good as a V8 but I don’t care. Like any motor you need to take care of it. Keep the oil changed often and use good oil and filter. I’m happy with the 402a. I have added Bilsteiin 6112/5160 struts and shocks. I also added SPC UCAs. It’s a little stiffer but still fine. Zero issues so far. I do wish for the money it had better headlights. Not happy with these my 250 lariat ultimate and past 22 150 limited both had great headlights. I loved the bend around a turn headlights.
Ford missed it by putting a entry level XL front end on a specialty truck like the Tremor. Those entry level XL reflector headlights are an insult on this truck. Ford should have kept the premium LED projector headlights on this truck. The ones you find on the Lariat and above. Prime example of pay more and get less. What a shame.
You nailed the specs-use-models !! I opted for 402a+moonroof. A little body sway at speed on corners. It’s the gem in a pile of options in F150. I added spray in liner/disable bed cover by undercover from dealer. You taught me some things I didn’t know so I’ll add some time trying your points. Mine was perfect in snow-mud. So comfy-I love the 4” higher. Info-tainment is great! Hands free and heads UP a must!!!! Great job!!!!!
I have a 2024 tremor 401a package. After about 20k miles its been great. Only thing I can't solve is some suspension noise/spring rubbing when coming to a stop sometimes.
You mentioned not seeing the front view when you need it – a front view with tire marks pops up when you switch to rock crawl mode. You can also get the front camera by hitting the camera button at low speeds. It goes away once you hit about 10mph.
Love my 2023 402a. Grabbed it right when the 2024’s were announced because I wanted the nicer headlights haha.
What recommendations do you have for a level lift on this truck ?
Shoutout to Andy Frisella!
Reference to your comment about the front camera….the front camera automatically turns on when you put it in off-road or rockcrawling mode. You can also turn it on with the camera button to the right of the volume knob.
I DO NOT wear New Balance! Seriously, I don’t. Never have. Maybe I should consider it? 😂
Turd
Would be nice to get tow mirrors as an option on the tremor. Went with a a lariat because i wanted tow mirrors and refused to pay 3k for mirrors from ford to put on the truck. The tremor is a cool package but for the actual usable features it cost about as much to add a torsen front diff to a f150 as tow mirrors to a tremor. There just isnt enough to justify getting less and being limited with a tremor
The price on these trucks is stupid. It’s high time for the market to fall out on the auto industry and force a price reset.
