This is the story of a machine designed around one very specific problem. Paratroopers hit the ground with nothing but what’s strapped to them. And the strange, half-successful answer the Army came up with. Fewer than five thousand were made, and by the time enough of them existed, the men who were supposed to ride them had something better.
