I love this photo of the Bootes Super Void. So creepy and eerie. So cool that the internet brings us accurate images of phenomena like this that previous generations never had. People probably used to think that it was just a cloud of dust or some kind of nebula – never dreaming that it was in actuality by far the largest void ever discovered – a massive bubble of nothingness.

Here's the funny thing, i can find absolutely NOTHING stating that the void is a dark nebula. In fact, i only the opposite to be true. Imagine a nebula, if you will, the size of 2000 galaxies… good day to you sir

That is not a void this is a gas cloud/ nebula. That nebula names is Barnard-684 and this nebula does not reflect or give off light. It is full of hydrogen and oxygen, which gives birth to some stars.
The vast emptiness of the Bootes Void is nothing compared to the vast emptiness of my intellect in the morning.

i was once looking at a star in the belt of orion and this stupid, tiny cloud would not move out of the way. i soon realized it had to be very close to the star it was obscuring to be lit by that star. not in the sky, not tiny, light years across, and not going anywhere
