I mean, I don’t eat fast food. When I take the family to the movies I order a small in everything and it’s still too much.
But you don't have your drinks packed to the hilt with ice, do you? If you pour out the contents of a drink, you'll find there isn't a whole lot, it's all ice.
American measuring units are strange. But, I love the measuring of calories in plates of pasta from the Italian.
Our serving sizes are all large. I can take home and have at least one more meal if not 2. I don’t drink soda so I don’t care about the free refills, water is always free.

I remember as a kid long, long ago when portion sizes were normal, and I still couldn't eat it all.
Yeah like those giant over stuffed burritos I see all the time on YouTube, no way on earth could I finish something like that.

Sometimes I envy the American portions. I remember buying these 500ml cans of Monster Energy (which are imported from the UK and Poland, btw), and sometimes dream about 1 liter bottles/cans of Red Bull (which are real last time I checked, but we don't really get them in Malaysia. I did, however find a 1 liter bottle of an unspecified Chinese energy drink at a convenience store last month. It wasn't as good though)
More and more place are moving away from the free refill. McDonald’s already has started pulling self serve machines
I've visited a friend in the US a couple of times. We went out for food quite a lot and several places had the free refill thing.

The sizes are massive 😂 thr first time I realized that was when I was watching the movie Scream 2 where Jada Pinket smith ordered a "small" popcorn at the stand and he gave her a bucket bigger than her 😂
Same in Japan. Our large is a small stateside.
Free refills are rapidly going away here in the mid Atlantic area of the USA.
In America, we go big or go home, I guess
