In WARNO, a tank that turns round to retreat shows the enemy its thin rear armour.
Tanks are thick in front and thin on the sides and rear. Bring yours in from the flank and keep their fronts toward the enemy. To back a vehicle out, use reverse (G by default): it keeps its front armour facing the enemy as it goes. When a tank comes under fire, pop its smoke, back it off to repair and bring it back in.

Id suggest making it so only the turret causes the crew to die if pointed backwards and the hull just causes an engine failure if hit
As long as the reverse speed is not -4km then it is also allowed.
