The E-Bike controversy has made its way to South Park. Today I’ll review this recent episode and map the characters to real life groups. We cover what the writers got right, what they got wrong, and what made me reconsider my own viewpoints where kids are concerned.

Bring back the 80s…. Life was so much easier and more simple!
yeah sorry not sorry, longtime motocross racer i know whats up. kids are getting run over left and right around here on these things (NW Chicago suburbs). I don't neccessarily oppose them but something has to be done. several deaths and many serious injuries including brain injuries. The problem is they have no clue on rules of the road and just go flying down the sidewalks making their own rules. recipe for disaster.
Guys, this episode is about gun control. We’ll get all upset when a kid rides a bike 30 mph on a sidewalk because it’s a potential danger, and we’ll regulate that. But we won’t do anything about the biggest cause of death for children aged 1-19 years old is firearms.
That’s what this episode is about. Not watts, not speed, not bikes. Guns
Don't buy your kids ebikes. Class 1 is ok, but don't buy them anything more than that. Pediatric surgeons are begging parents not to.
No we don’t
What is "South Park"? Never heard of it 🤔
Did you by any chance mean South America?
Australia has successfully regulated e-bikes btw
in the netherlands this episode works even better cause the ebikes in this look like what we call Fatbikes, and specifically those E-bikes are hated among regular cyclists ( and most people here own a bicycle but more so to get from A to B , not just for a workout )
It’s funny parents have no issues letting their teenagers ride around on e-motos but if they were gas motos they likely would not. There needs to be a big push nationwide to educate people on why their 14 year old doesn’t need to be riding around public streets on an electric bike capable of 80mph.
I was basically forced into riding a ebike (I have to pay 3 grand for my license).
Worked with a spoiled ass kid like cartman lol. He asked me how much mine was and I said $400. He said "oh yea? add another zero to mine". His parents own a dispo lmaao. Like okay why are you at McDonald's then
As a primary Moto guy I think the classification system of e-bikes/MOTOS do not give anyone meaningful information on what they are purchasing and if it may be too much for them. There needs to be better descriptions like how dirt bikes are labeled by engine displacement 85,115,250,450 CCs, and letters that depict use like "R" for racing, "X" for off road/Enduro, and terms like scooter, moped, mini-bike. Terms like "class 2 E-Bike" describes very little and requires research. The generic moto terms at least give you some idea of what you're looking at.
It's all the motor industry and pansies not wanting us to have freedom…I had. 48v 1000w system and a 24ah battery and if I bothered to peddle plenty would get close to 100miles of range…and fyi I'm 110kg so carrying shopping up hills wished it had another 500w minimum …I love south America but I feel they're missing out on a transport revolution.
Seth can you review the Rockbros MT600? looks like a sweet deal but nobody has done a review on it
politically incorrect aka you don't agree with me you are evil
I live in a small idaho ski town and this is a huge issue here as you can imagine. From the OG road bikers who refuse to use our multi-million dollar bike paths. To the rich entitled parents buying their 12 year old a $7,000 e-moto. And then there's people like me with a pedal assist ebike. That ebike can be such a life saver for those without a car. I have a car but still, I tested mine one summer by parking my car and using only the ebike. I was able to do everything with it. Put a basket on the back for groceries and one time even went and bought 2 new dirtbike tires with it then hauled them home. Was a bit awkward but definitely still easy. Ebikes are a great tool! But I totally get the frustration around them.

Wearing a helmet while bicycle riding is ridiculous. Besides there being zero evidence of them helping in any way; no less serious head injuries have ever been documented. They only add to the over worry, bubble wrap society, keeping people in a state of fear and government dependence.
Even though me and my daughter have mountain bikes, my dad is going to get an ebike. Since his strength, endurance, and health are not that good, he had to go the electronic assisted route :/
I also thought it was a nice piece of irony that the "dangerous, illegal" e-bikes are loaded up into giant trucks that speed away. Those aren't being legislated against every time they're involved in a needless death.
Yeah that episode hit the nail on the head.
In the late 80s & early 90s people who didn't ride skateboards, police & lamestream media. Decided that skateboarding was the latest new problem that was plaguing the country & that only cars & 🚲 should be allowed. Along with 🛴 that were considered just as bad…Then came segways and it was suddenly ok to ride a segway around on the sidewalk or street since it wasn't a skateboard or scooter. So in some cities you had police & parking enforcement, riding segways around on the sidewalk & in the streets. Writing tickets to skateboarders who are riding on sidewalks & streets.
Today the stupidity continues with Ebikes & scootets. They're considered a plauge but once the government can put a tax on them. Suddenly they're no longer a problem on roads.
kids are causing chaos in my neighborhood on these ebikes. It's like everyone has a motorcycle now. Just without the noise. They are doing wheelie's and stuff….I'm tired of it honestly. When I was a kid I wasn't crazy like that.
umm actually… thats not Kleenex thats a Life brand disposable paper facial tissue.
they are all easily understood by normies as E BIKES.
a normie watching the news has no idea what an E-MOTO is. I never heard E-MOTO til this video.
you are the first person – in this video – to say the word e-moto in front of me.
i did not know that was a word.
i've been personally calling them e-dirtbikes
I recently got an Aventon Adventure 3, this is basically that $2000 fat tire e-bike cartman got, I LOVE my bike. I got this bike because I am a big guy and out of shape. I am around 300 pounds and looking to get active again. this bike has a 400 pound weight limit, and lets me go where I want to go and choose my workout. I love the bike trails in my area and also love that I can peddle fast enough to ride safely in the street. I do my very best to respect all runners and other bikes I have seen and passed. I am almost always peddling (I do take some breaks haha) I hate thinking that people are going to confuse me with one of those electric motorcycles that only have peddles to make them fit a legal category.
E bikes a cool. But. They are not registered motorcycles. I see kids driving them down the road. Like a motorcycle in the travel lane. No turn signals bake lights They are going to cause a crack down. And get them band
The episode parallels the Charlie Kirk assassination, absolutely fascinating. C Kirk = Kenny.
I think we have 3 groups of electric bike users. The normale electric bike users. The electric fat bike users. And the speedelic users. In the first group you have some bad apples. In the other two groups there are many bad apples. The speedelic users cycle where they shouldn’t cycle and go way too fast. In a 30 km zone they still go 45 km per hour. They are mostly a danger because of there speed. The electric fat bike users are the biggest issue. Some go up to 80/90 km per hour. They often cycle through pedestrian zones. They ignore traffic rules. They are on their phone and so many more issues. I don’t agree with the view of an uninformed parent. Here, especially in the last couple of years, parents are just ignoring all the information and warning signals when they buy their kid a fat bike. You have to live under a rock not to be informed.
Im 18 years old and all i want ebike for is go to work and explore, i really dont understand being that reckless on purpose.
Before cars, there were bicycles. Cyclists lobbied for paved roads. Then came cars that made paved roads dangerous for cyclists, who made paved roads possible.
It is funny that today you can find newspaper articles from exactly 50 years ago, about how bad the situation was with every parent buying their kids mopeds/scooters that were very cheap, badly maintained and straight out illegal.
Whatever happened to walking to school?
E bikes -> motorized vehicle
Just bought a mountain bike because an e bike will make me lazy a mountain bike will make me more fit
Bro tf you mean 13 days ago😭 it felt like a month💔
Always suck when folks ruin a good thing for everyone
The road biker dads dont represent the opposition of the average person to ebikes, but it does seem to encapsulate the opposition of the average biker 😅. "You have to earn your miles" is a pretty common sentiment among bikers.
bro nobody says e moto. we just call them all ebikes
I almost got hit by e-mottos while on a sidewalks 6 times, all of then under the age of 13 and doing 30+
Did you not realize that the local bike shop owner is actually The Bike Farmer?
Why would they bother with Ebikes when they have the IT?
