Has the Bible changed?
We spent eight hours inside the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C. Then we flew halfway across America to a manuscript preservation facility normally closed to the public, where we were allowed to examine extraordinary biblical manuscripts and early printed Bibles up close.
We encountered real Dead Sea Scroll fragments, a thousand-year-old Torah, a 500-year-old Torah scroll, the Geneva Bible, the infamous Wicked Bible, and a first-edition 1611 King James Bible.
Then we opened a Bible printed during the 1500s to John 3:16 and compared it with the verse millions of people know today. Does it still say the same thing?
We also examined a remarkably old Greek manuscript of Psalms that contained something we never expected—evidence that challenged what we thought we knew about the history of Bible chapter numbering.
Along the way, we discovered ancient seals from Jerusalem, artifacts from everyday biblical life, and the remarkable story of the people who copied, translated, printed, protected, and passed Scripture from one generation to the next.
This is more than a journey through old books and museum displays. It is the story of the preserved Word of God—and why it still has the power to change lives today.

The psalms make sense being numbered since they’re essentially songs
Sergio and Rhoda. You need to see if your can find a way to look at and ask questions of the Ethiopian Bible. We need to know why there's 81 books compared written in it to the 66 books in standard Protestant Bibles or 73 in Roman Catholic Bibles. Why were books removed to make others?
The bible is a Bronze Age book of fiction. It was written by people who didn't even know where the sun went at night. It amazes and dismays me that people in the 21st Century still worship this nonsense. It should be thrown on the scrap heap of history, a mere historical curiosity.

Seeing as how the Bible was author by God before the beginning and revealed as He directed, this is a big – DUH
Numbering Psalms is different than dividing Paul's letters into chapters, for example.
Each Psalm is a separate, distinct writing, like songs in a song book, so of course they would always have been numbered.
The Greek of John 3:16 is “ his son, his only born “, tov huion ton monogenes.
What really is the objective here.

And not one single word about the FACT that ALL modern translations including the original KJV use the corrupted Masoretic text contrived by Jesus hating Rabbis approx 1000 years AD for the entire Old Testament instead of the Original Septuagint LXX translated from ancient Hebrew approx 300 years BC….the very same Septuagint quoted by Jesus, the Disciples/Apostles as well as the Pharisees. The 1611 KJV is called the He Bible because the word he is used by accident where it should say she in Ruth 3:15. I have a full-size facsimile of it which is basically a perfect photocopy of the original made using the same materials. It weighs about 30 lbs. It's my favorite Bible to read by far. Also the letter in John 3:16 that looks like a y with an e over it (For God ſo loued ye world) is actually a y with an e over it but it stands for the, not ye. Sometimes printers would use a y in place of th because the font style made the y look like the letter thorn þ (a letter used before the printing press to represent the th sound) so ye was read as the. That's why some old signs say "Ye Olde." In the Bibles from the 1500s and 1600s they printed this to save space. It's printed the same in the KJV 1611. Also, I study Old English (which is English from before 1100) and I have read the prose Psalms in Old English (1-50) as translated by King Alfred from the Latin Vulgate. These date to sometime in the 800s. At that time the entire Bible was not available in English but psalteries were common. They too had numbering for the Psalms but they aren't the same numbers we use today. Somewhere around Psalm 10 the order changes, and most of them are off by one but not all, so probably the same as that older manuscript.
17:14 Aw… let's just say 300 – 320, who cares about accuracy or that we are lying. We don't really know the date. We're pulling that our of our rear ends. Because that is what that date is. It has nothing to do with what we actually historically know of the actual physical mss. The unbroken chain of custody is the only thing we know about its date. It does not tell when it was written, necessarily, unless it is one of many forgeries we run across. But it is the date from which we have documentation of the mss being in the care of a specific person or institution starting from that date to the present without gaps. Anything else is pure speculation. That means these dates are pure speculative entertainment.

Bible chapter numbers are a later addition except for the psalms. Peter mentions 'the second psalm'. The psalm numbers are inspired.

okay this is very intresting. As someone who can read Greek, i managed to observe that the " 54 " sign marks the end of the first two lines of Psalm 53. Then Psalm 53 continues as normally. That is amazing. So i wonder then how they actually broke down the psalms. I know that the numbering of the psalms is different, especially in Orthodox Bibles.

My late wife, Nicole, and I along with the other people in a tour group held a completely unrolled 500 year old family Torah scroll at har Kharkhoum in the Negev. It was kind of spooky to be there! There were twelve upright stones and an altar made of unhewn stones!

Bless you both. In 1977, I toured Israel and specifically, Nazareth. It was like being home. I felt so close to The Holy Family. ✝🛐
On my last Navy deployment in 1996, my ship had to stop in Haifa for repairs. There was a tour arraigned for us in northern Israel. One of the places we went through was Nazareth but we didn't stop as they claimed the Arabs there would probably start something with a bus load of US sailors. But we did stop at a lot of other places.
