About Me:
Hi, my name is Larry. I created MRIPETCTSOURCE to bring clarity to the world of medical imaging and help patients feel informed and at ease before their diagnostic procedure.
The idea for this channel came after a late night working to repair an MRI system before morning appointments. As I was leaving, a patient in the waiting area asked me if the MRI procedure was safe. We talked for a few minutes, and I explained that I was the engineer who keeps the system running safely and that I had even been scanned to verify image quality before turning the system over for patient scanning.
I chatted with the patient until they were called in for their scan. During that time, I explained that the MRI magnet itself is completely safe for all properly screened patients, that nothing is felt during the scan, and that it does not cause any pain. I even shared that I actually enjoy getting MRI scans myself and almost fall asleep in there. That short conversation made me realize how much people value clear, trustworthy information about medical imaging from both the technical and patient sides. That moment helped me see how important it is to give patients simple, honest explanations about medical imaging that they can actually understand.
Since then, MRIPETCTSOURCE has become a place where patients, technologists, and healthcare professionals can learn, ask questions, and better understand how imaging systems work. I started working with MRI, CT, and PET systems as a field service engineer in 2008 and have witnessed the amazing progress in medical imaging safety and performance.

  1. If you’re scared or panicking about an MRI don’t forget about those people that been in an earthquake and been trapped for 8 to 10 days until they get rescued. If that doesn’t ease you then I don’t know what will.

  2. I have to have one through Corewell in Michigan with a coil and I have a Medtronics SureScan pacemaker. They no longer have open MRI machine and I can’t find one that does who will take me because of the pacemaker. I have extreme claustrophobia. I’m about ready to cancel my appointment.

  3. I had a MRI today, I'm claustrophobic know doubt. Today I was panicking before I went in, really didn't want to go. I had a open MRI machine which helped a lot also my Dr. Gave me Valium I made it through. With pray, the meds and the open MIR. The last time I had a panic attack, but made myself stay in. Its ashame all the things you have to do just get a MRI. I can't believe I did it, I gave a big hand to myself. 😅

  4. We just got the new recon DL on the GE artist. These open magnets are shit compared to what I have at my facility. Also the new GE system scan 3x faster than these open butt hole machines. Those open machines should be illegal. Fucking terrible patient care to put a patient through them.
