Back in WW2 the boffins at the Special Operations Executive were encouraged to come up with loads of ideas for schemes and equipment, with the remit that no idea was too crazy. On the principle that the more you got your brain on fire with ideas, the better chance you'd have of coming up with a good one among all the mad ones. Acoustic Kitty definitely sounds like it was dreamt up by a similar process and got further than the crazy ideas are meant to.
Though also there was an awful lot of LSD being used by the intelligence community back then!
And nowadays the camera and microphones are so tiny that they don’t need animals to spy for them anymore, they'll just hack into people's mobiles anyway.

Yikes. Sounds like both outcome stories were told and your would hear one depending on your age. Under 14: the cat is fine and lives upstate. Over 14: yeah the cat ran into traffic immediately and got run over.

When you realize that the cia has a job to “protect american interests” but let us be attacked by russia and israel, you wake up and realize that the cia doesn’t work for the US as much as siphon our money for oligarch interests.
