Never heard this story until 2024 when our tour guide at the Eiffel Tower told it to our group…. We were in disbelief that we had never heard it or seen it told on the big screen. Amazing story and trust me when I tell you the French people are very aware of what the Allies did for them in WW2. They are very grateful even to this day.

Is this a true story.
Sad situation. I was acquainted with Bill Overstreet, and a nicer gent you'd never meet.
However:
It never happened but keeps popping up.
"Spring 1944" in this video. In another video Bill said it was sometime between D-Day and liberation of Paris. That's about 10 weeks from June to August. (HIS LOGBOOK AND MISSION REPORTS WOULD SHOW A PARIS DATE) So where'd April 9 come from in another Youtube video? On that mission to Germany, no victories/no losses.

All three of Bill Overstreet's victories were claimed over Germany.
Two 363rd FS aces said that Overstreet never mentioned it during the war. "We'd have held a huge party for the squadron and the group at the O club!"
