It is wrong when government uses taxpayers money to offer rebates for product. Government role is building roads and providing security, not choosing the winners and loosers.
Most people living in apartments are paying in taxes for Matt's rebate or rebate of few people that can install the solar panels.

Matt, don't believe all you read. Solar might be cheaper, but some residents are also heavily subsidised to get batteries and panels. The price reduction you might be seeing is the wholesale price it is not reflective of the retail price that is up 30-40%. We have enough brown coal in Victoria last hundreds of years but the government chenged policy to dissicentivise fosil fuels. not all together a bad thing . but when the sun doesn't shine and the wind doesn't blow. not sure where we are getting power from. Also the battery rebate is tax payers money only good for some and also means tested to a very low household income. ROI is still not viable.

Time to point out, as Albanese faces domestic pressures, that this was an entirely Labor Initiative.
Its a win-win. By having a larger proportion of residential properties not only having solar but having Batteries, it means that the Grid doesnt need to be improved which would take tens of billions as populations rise. It also means that peak use is lower. Even during times of low solar generation, the fact is that the peak use is flattened because batteries charge during the abundant and cheap hours (9am-3pm) and then discharge during the evening hours. This means that 'demand needed' like opening dams, or powering up additional capacity in traditional power plants is less necessary but an order of magnitude.
Its an absolute insanity that more counties arent doing it for those reasons alone, let alone the small point that it has reduced my energy bills by 82%. The cost of install will be paid off in 5.8 years.

Here in the U.S., it seems, to me, utilities are doing everything they can to increase fees (grid connection fee) and discourage adoption of solar use. Every city has their own approved design that may not be the same across the street that is in a different jurisdiction.
Installers overcharge for materials and labor because they are selling loans to pay for the project. We installed a small 3.2 Enphase system with 10kW battery backup three years ago. Were lucky to get NEMA 2 program in CA. One for one payback on our exportation of excess electricity. We only use about 60% of generation.
The government should not be subsidizing solar or electric vehicles. All that subsiding does is artificially raise prices on the purchased product.

Yeah there's no way I could afford a 8kw system here in the US without going the DIY route and having open ground and a lack of trees to ground mount them. Also super lucky to be an electrician with all the tools and know how that made the job easy and safe.
I also live in an unincorporated area, unlike most people that are stuck with bad regulations/laws and oppressive HOAs. It's really sad to drive by so many houses and only 1/25 have solar, because here on the TX coast, we have as much sun as Phoenix
Id say what would be the most helpful is rebates and financing locked in with one body that takes all levels of government into account. One application and thats it. This would also mean the permitting process as well. If approved you could find out what you could qualify for. Then, its a matter of finding a solar installer to do the work. I'd also want to see investment in infrastructure to get mines up and running in canada, manufacturing rebates and incentives, faster more guaranteed permitting. Here in Ontario Canada we have massive amounts of minerals, if we actually got past ourselves, that alone could be a massive incentive to have batteries made here in Ontario… But they have so many environmental permitting process that overlap and contradict…. It seems like the only thing politicians and burocrats can agree on is no….
Here in Canada the Liberals (Carney) are doing everything they can to get us to renewable… turns out all they think they can do is tax us more and add more regulation…. I'm putting solar and battery in and its complicated and expensive. I've figured out a way to make it work, but its a massive hustle of chasing savings and rebates and cheat debt to get there. We won't do well on emissions because our particular climate focused government thinks powerty and control are the only solutions, and making things easier, fixing the incentive structures, aren't on their radar… its acutally harder to do these things in Canada than in the states…
