  1. Phillips-head screws piss me off so bad.
Look, I understand the concept: four high-pressure contact points set at 90° from each other, approximately halfway between the pivot center and the outer flange where torque must taper off. Yes.
Makes sense. BUT WHY… in the hell… did someone say "let's taper the hole"??
Tapering the hole saves the bit, but if each screw disintegrates when you try to use the bit, it's not so good. In fact, a flat cross works just about as well as a (forgive me) square drive. Why this wasn't the design, I know not.
But nothing tops the stupidity of the Torx sets. That's a story for another time, though. For now: put some dang dirt on the Phillips bits, and pray you don't have to use an Easy-Out!

  2. I use Torx and I absolutely love it.
I am sure that Robertson screw won't surpass Torx anymore. It's too late. But Technicians should know that it is Canadian "square drive" that was inspiration for Torx

  3. Ngl the star shaped screw is a goat for me. Used in wooden house construction over here in europe. Easy to get in and out. Unless you use the wood screws that are meant to stay… Good luck getting those out without snapping the head off.

  5. People usually call a cross head screw as Philips but Posidrive is also cross head but is usually better than others. TORX is far superior than anything else. Thank you.

  6. то что из филипса выскакивает бита – в том и есть ее смысл, чтобы не сорвать голову при сверхсильной затяжке

  7. Philips are the bane of my existence , not only do the screws strip but you also go through bits more and that’s just not efficient by any means . I see lots of people mentioning torx but the only instance I’ve used them is fence braces? I don’t see them used very much

  8. I first learned about this when I was 15 visiting Epcot in the US. On the bridge to “Canada”, my dad pointed out the square heads on the screws in the planks and was like “Wow! Even the screws are authentic!” lol

  9. Phillips screw was invented to strip because workers were breaking the screws building cars so they need it a screw to tite panels but once strips it doesn't break …

  10. Bro comparing a Philips dome head screw to a flat square! Firstly compare the same type of screws! Domes are easier to start slipping!

Secondly Philips were originally designed to slip… try a pozy drive 😭 my brain hurts from watching this brain rot

  12. Of course. If you just learn how to use tools properly, you won't have that issue. It's really not that hard. I've been carpentry for a long time and it's mostly just the technique that people use.
