Perhaps tail loss is necessary, but not sufficient for walking upright.
I think that it would be pretty cool to have a tail.
a tail could help us by being an extra hand to hold

Some lucky humans have what’s called an atavism where they are born with a tail though it’s usually removed soon after birth for obvious reasons
