I don't have any full memories from when I was really young but I have bits and pieces from as young as 4. And not even memories discussed by my family, just things I remember naturally. I used to have an incredible memory, but after I had brain radiation when I was 14/15, my memory is very hit or miss. All of my long term memories are locked in, but the process of turning short term memories into long term ones is challenged. Even certain words or names that I've known for years will totally disappear out of nowhere. Anyway, thanks for listening to my Ted Talk.
I have a memory from when I was 2, my sister and I were playing with a balloon and she secretly tripped me and head slammed into the coffee table and my bottom teeth went through my bottom lip. I can remember being in the room at the hospital, saying, “mommy?” And hearing her voice say “I’m right here!” But honestly now I think it’s just a memory of a memory like others are saying.
I remember my traumatic baptism as a baby (as dunking a human under water would be…). I recall the blinds of the church, and at every single point in my life it has always been my "first" memory. It was always black and white in my mind, and I later learned in adulthood that it was because babies have muted colour vision. There were never any photos taken of this event, so I won't be gaslighted into thinking that it's an invented memory. The psychologists are wrong about this one. They're one reason that university students need to buy constantly updated textbooks.
I was riding in a car at about four years old and in confusion I had asked my parents how many times we had moved meaning how many houses had we lived in? They told me you’ve only ever lived in this house. You’ve never moved or something along those lines. But I remember not being able to remember anything before that point
My first very real and vivid memory is from when I was 4,5. It’s the moment I met my sister. I’ve discussed it with my mom and I’m pretty confident that it’s real. But anything before that nah. Too blurry, or just completely blank. I have also a few years in my early 20’s that I’ve completely forgotten (and I mean normal life things, not parties). I know I went to a theme park one day with my best friend and my boyfriend but I have absolutely no recollection of that day! It’s super weird.
My earliest memory I still have was when I was around 2 years old. We were at a family gathering of some sort, and we were all posing for a picture… and I remember hiding behind my brother in the picture because the sun was in my eyes.
My first memory when when I was two years old, and I was getting an actual bed instead of one of those toddler beds and I was helping my parents put together my new bed that was 11 years ago
I don’t completely know what is my earliest memories because my parents have told lots of stuff about those years so they might be filling in. I do have some hazy pictures of events occurring from a very young age but they could be a reconstruction from photos. So not exactly sure.
Ehhh, I don't think so since I can still clearly remember falling off blocks when I was a baby and kicking a door seal. And I could recall this for years.
My first memory was when I was 4 (going on 5), at my uncle’s funeral. I remember the church service being quite somber and also not being tall enough to look over the pews, but also the actual funeral itself where they released a crap ton of balloons into the air in honor of him, which made my little brain go “ooooooh” and solidify it as a first memory
My earliest was around when I was either 3 or almost 3. It was at one of my mom's first big races. I was standing there with my dad and older brother waiting for her to cross the finish line. My dad told little me something to the extent of "when mom crosses the finish line, go run and give her a hug as she crosses" and I did and we have a photo of little me and my mom from that day. She still does ultra marathons today years later.
I imagine if you keep recalling an early memory every sonoften it would stop it from being erased completely. Of course, everytime you recall it it may be altered slightly
My first memory is waking up as a 3 year old and questioning if Id just been born, and immediately realizing I wouldn't know what being born is if I was just born.
Sometimes I think its a false memory, but its so vivid. Its one of the only memories I have from being so young… everything else I can remember is playing with my power wheel jeep and taking it into the garage and holding wires together from the battery to make sparks – and then trying to take my friend away in a uHaul and sharing some weird raisin candy with him when I was moving houses.
Oh, and it was a little later but I thought I could breathe underwater and I basically drowned myself but I was okay. I probably was breathing in the air from my throat or something idk.
My first is being 4 years old and getting glasses for the first time.. I know i was 4 because my mom confirmed years later that's how old I was when I got them
I have lots of memories of being a baby and things I've remembered are reinforced by photographs my parents took at the time. The reason most people don't remember is that there was either no reinforcement that cemented that memory or just no reason to remember it.
I definitely remember some events that happened during kindergarden (by myself and not influenced by friends or family). But while I know that those events happened, I am pretty sure the pictures in my head are wrong and were most likely modified whenever I tried to remember them a few years later. But I don't care. For me it is more important to remember that an event took place, over having the exact memory of it. I gave up on trusting my memories when I learned during my teenage years how easily they could be manipulated. But sometimes I hear people talk about their childhood in such details that I have a hard time knowing if I should be impressed or not believe them
So true, there are several events i swore as a kid happened to me. Then as i got older, i saw they were only memories of seeing photos… of my sister! 😅
I remember being 2 (Day before three, technically), and I'm fairly certain that one is real (my mom told me three-year olds didn't need binkies. It was an emotionally charged moment, lol). I have a few earlier ones but that's the only one I can give a definite date. I definitely don't remember before two, but my dad has memories from when he was still in the cradle. No way to verify their veracity, though.

I clearly recall my atoms scattered across the cosmos and everything since.
🤔 I forgot what I was going to say. 😁

My earliest flashes of memories are from age 4 but hardly anything

How do i remember the moment when i became Conscious but not what i ate yesterday
My earliest memories are from when I was 5

As a 4 year old I heard about this, so I picked my earliest memories and decided to keep them. Fifty years later they are still there.
Mind playing tricks on us, huh?
I don't have memories per se, but I do have visual and audio flashes starting from around age 4.
At what age does photographic memory start and how would they avoid the shuffling of neurons?
I clearly remember the day I was born
I have 3 distinct memories from before I could speak that are so simple they don't change and have remained consistent throughout my entire life.

I love your videos, but I feel terrible about the desensitized comment about experiments with rats. Speciesism at its finest. 😢

3 nearly 4 for me
Sorry to burst your YouTube bubble but I have verifiable memories from about 18 months old.
The farthest I can remember is from 5 years old
It would be nice if you could put the article from where this information came from.
