  1. I watched a video on YouTube which instantly stopped my hiccup.
Try holding out your tongue as far as you can for 20-15 second. You can hold it by the tip to extend it.
It works instantly like magic 🪄✨

  2. I can say that the "holding your breath" trick does work for me personally, but it's not as simple as just holding your breath for a moment. You have to completely fill your lungs with air, hold it for a good 30 or so seconds, and then slowly exhale. You'll usually have to hold out through one or two hiccup reflexes.

  3. So one thing that works a lot is having another person say “I dare you to hiccup again” and then stare at the person hiccuping. My grandmother did that to students when she was a teacher. But she had them stand on the desk and have the entire class stare at the kid when she dared them

  4. Um, I DO know a method of stopping hiccups that I’ve NEVER seen fail. With strangers, with friends, and with my kid who had an annoyingly twitchy diaphragm, and used to get hiccups chronically from in the womb until about 4 years old.
The solution is not to just take a deep breath. That won’t work. Do this:
    1) take in as deep a breath as you can, and hold for a count of 5.
    2) without exhaling, try to take in two more fast breaths. Hold that for another count of 5
That’s it. They’ll be gone. If not, repeat the steps, but I’ve only seen one person ever have to repeat it a second time.

  5. I can stop hiccuping at will, all I need to so is concentrate for a few seconds and I can get rid of them! My mom can do it, too, but I've never met another who could

  6. If hiccups are from thousands of generations back, that means hiccups are one of the most passed down and special features, which could ALSO mean, there is gills somewhere in the digestive system, that we havent found yet, but who knows? Thats just my theory.

  7. So to cure an involuntary air in problem caused by diaphragm spasm (hiccup) you need an involuntary air out diaphragm spasm (laughter). It has to be real laughter and not a fake one. Real laughter equals real results. A cure that works and willing share.

  8. Dude, I got this product called HiccAway, which is a modified straw that makes you suck really hard to drink. It has worked for me very consistently and I tell people anytime it comes up. Idk if there's any research to show that it works for a wider demographic, though.

  9. Waiting it out absolutely doesn't work at all for me. Or maybe it does, after a while, but before that it gets worse and my diaphragm gets genuinely painful.
"Waiting it out" certainly works for some. I mean, it does for my wife. She merely gets an annoyance at best, from her own hiccups, but it's not the case for everyone, and certainly not for me.
What works best is a combination of the "absurd folk remedies you make fun of": blowing out, and then holding my breath while slowly gulping down a full glass of water. Its good practice if you're a woodwind musician too, btw, or so I like to think. Anyway. Cures hiccups in a jiffy, before it has time to get painful.

  10. The diaphragm, unable to spasm with slow, controlled breathing stops hiccups in 2 minutes. I got fed up with big hiccups; I pulled my abdomen in and tight; pressed my fists against my abdomen then lay face down – raised my head, mouth open half an inch, controlled breath slowly in and out.
Now just I tighten my core, lean slightly forward with mouth – stupidly – ajar & breathe slowly.
Try it, it works if you do it properly – don't rush it!
