“We can’t tell the women about lesbian sex because then they might want to have it!” Lmao golden.
Honestly? The biggest obstacle to women engaging in lesbian sex circa the 1800s / early 1900s would be to actually meet with each other, I'd guess. With the exception of mostly lower (working) class women, most women were confined to their homes almost all the time. Any lesbian hanky panky would have to remain within the household (ew). Otoh, there were the servants…
What a wild take they had lol
Too many comments to see if this is a novel observation… but I read years ago that WW1 killed so many young British men that a generation of British women faced a choice of no romance or shacking up with another woman. The claim was all over Britain by the 1920s there were numerous same sex households of 2 women simply because of WW1.
Absolutely
Every time this video pops up on my reccomended (which is shockingly often), my brain always reads it as Sesbian Lex instead. I genuinely have to take a few moments to read it correctly.
Because it's too cool for school.
I (and I’m sure many others) would love to see the “10 pound traveler” series you mention at the end of the video. Too bad I can’t cuz it’s only on nebula. You’d probably make more money putting it on YouTube anyway from ad revenue.
I’m basically writing a paper on this same topic but for Russian history. I think something worth mentioning for medieval times is how sex is defined. According to the Hebrew Bible, sex is an act performed on someone, this is why it’s only illegal to take dick up the ass and not fuck a guy in the ass.
i love how you are magnifying in the thumbnail
I was in the Navy in the late 90s/ early 00s… There was an openly gay woman on my ship that everyone knew was a lesbian and it was NEVER an issue. A man and his best friend got caught having fun together in a closet (lol, literally) and they were immediately kicked out.
Sigh.
Withholding the law not because it would increase the rate of their supposed crime is in a strange way sad.
foreplay? Now, you're just making stuff up.
I dated a Bi woman. She NEVER brought it home, and it was never ever in my face. But, after we broke up, her girlfriend was trying to pick me up. Actually, she had two girlfriends, I did date the younger of the two for a while, but we were just buddies. But, lets be honest. I'm not sure the ex-girlfriend was bi at all. She got a job from one ex, she got vehicles from other ex's, she got a house with one ex, she got her house fixed with me, etc. etc. She even moved out of her house and into an apartment with the next guy, and left her kids at the house. She got things from her boyfriends. She never said one thing about the girlfriends.
5:50 that's me pure and uncorrupted with attraction. It's so fascinating what these men reveal about themselves with this sort of thing
The homophobia is horrible of course, but just the idea of a bunch of posh british dudes in a room discussing lesbian sex very officially is absolutly hilarious to me, like what i wouldn't give to be a fly on the wall laughing hysterically
"The logistics doesnt make sense so it must not be real"
This is too funny because the romans believed women were obsessed with sex and were thinking about it all the time lol
Without having watched the video yet, I'm thinking: men just could not imagine that two women could have sex. "Without penis going in something, how's that sex???"
I am SOOOOOO decadent. I am a cake after all~
Sesbian lex :3
It seems they were worried their wives would discover a new passtime…
Now I must say boy am I glad I dont live in a time or place where it's outlawed
cuz it's cool
Lmao! “Obviously WE think about gay sex all the time but women left to their own devices never would!” Is the best out of touch man logic I’ve heard in quite some time. 😂
A devastatingly short video. Please, a deeper dive!!
As a lesbian I’m listening to
Perhaps someones like to watch? 😂
Sapphism could have become the COVID of Edwardian England. Imagine if Britain developed a reputation for wanton snuggliness?
From what I hear, it should definitely still be illegal because it's so good and good things are always wrong.
