X-MEN ’97 SEASON 2 & DC GREEN LANTERNS OFFICIAL TRAILER REACTION & BREAKDOWN!!
– Check out the DC Studios: Showcase Podcast HERE
Greg & Coy dive into two of the most exciting trailer drops in the comic book world: Marvel Animation’s X-Men ’97 Season 2 and HBO/DC Studios’ upcoming Green Lantern series, Lanterns. From nostalgic mutant mayhem to cosmic detective drama, we break down all the biggest moments, reveals, and what they could mean moving forward.
First up, the X-Men ’97 Season 2 trailer teases the next chapter following the shocking events of Season 1. Fan-favorite mutants return, including Cyclops, Jean Grey, Rogue, Storm, Beast, Gambit, and Wolverine—with voice talent like Ray Chase (Final Fantasy XV, Demon Slayer) as Cyclops and Jennifer Hale (Mass Effect, The Last of Us) as Jean Grey continuing to lead the charge. The footage hints at deeper fallout within the team, escalating threats, and the possible rise of iconic villains like Mr. Sinister and Apocalypse, all while maintaining the bold, retro animation style that made the revival a hit.
We also break down the first look at Lanterns, the highly anticipated DC series centered on the Green Lantern Corps. The show stars Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights, Bloodline) as veteran Lantern Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre (Rebel Ridge, Krypton) as John Stewart, pairing two iconic ring-bearers in what’s being described as a grounded, True Detective-style mystery on Earth. The trailer hints at a darker tone, intergalactic stakes, and possible connections to the broader DC Universe, with teases of the Guardians of the Universe and the emotional spectrum mythology.
Other confirmed Characters for X-Men ’97 S2 include: Scott Summers / Cyclops, Jean Grey, Ororo Munroe / Storm, Logan / Wolverine, Morph, Rogue, Dr. Henry “Hank” McCoy / Beast, Erik “Magnus” Lehnsherr / Magneto, Professor Charles Xavier, Apocalypse / En Sabah Nur, Kurt Wagner / Nightcrawler, X-Force, & more…
Join us as we react to every standout moment, speculate on what’s coming next, and discuss how both Marvel and DC are shaping the future of their on-screen universes.

Danger is from Whedon Astonishing X-Men, not Morrison
Slight correction, you're mixing up Askani'son and Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix. Askani'son is just Cable on his own facing Stryfe, while Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix is where they raise Nathan together in the future.
Also, Nate Grey is Cable's counterpart from the Age of Apocalypse universe. Cable as a kid goes by Nathan Dayspring Askani'son.
Also i struggle to see how apocalypse in that miniseries is anywhere near benevolent 😭 dude was raising a kid so that he would have a body to possess when his own gave out.
To answer some of the X-Men related questions
Polaris was never confirmed to be Magneto's daughter in the original cartoon. In Season 1 of '97, they briefly showed her as a silhouette in Magneto's psyche in the very last episode. Wanda/Scarlet Witch and Pietro/Quicksilver are confirmed in that episode from back then where they fight the High Evolutionary. They also alluded back to that one Iceman episode from OG where she becomes part of present-day Forge's X-Factor group. Whether or not, someone will say it finally, you and me will have to wait and see.
Exodus I don't think has ever appeared in animation until his cameos in season 1. He was there the day Genosha fell and he's actually one of the posters from Forge's last scene where he's trying to find mutants in the present after the X-Men disappear into time. Exodus also forms his own kind of Brotherhood of Mutants in some comics, with Mammomax, Avalanche, Black Tom Cassidy and Sabertooth joining him.
I don't know if Coy knows this or not, but Psylocke is the sister of fellow superhero Captain Britain, they're the Brandon siblings. I met Psylocke first in the show "Wolverine and the X-Men" where the Brotherhood make use of her powers for a hot minute, only for her to get schooled by Emma Frost.
To help Coy a little, and you who read this, the team Generation X consists of Chamber (psionic British boy), Gaia (former Guardian of the Citadel of the Universal Amalgamator), Husk (the sister of Cannonball who sheds her skin into different materials), M (Monaco-born telepath with super strength), Jubilee (no explanation needed), Mondo (Samoan who can camouflage himself and has a clone storyline similar to Madelyne Pryor), Penance (a mysterious silent girl with red-diamond skin), Skin (who literally has 6 feet of extra skin which he can stretch like Plastic Man though he considers his powers a curse) and Synch (the great supporter and a black mutant who can mimic other mutants' powers). If I'm not mistaken though, I'm wondering if the writers are putting Polaris in Jubilee's place.
Wolverine has always had claws before the Adamantium went into his system. That's part of his mutant power, besides the senses and the healing factor. You take away the indestructible part of his skeleton and it's just bone making them up.
Can’t they continue X-men evolution also? 😭😭😭😩
Actual BEST MARVEL SHOW since… the 90s!
Loved the preview im so late to watching it . I'm excited I seen Monet and Synch in the back ground 2 of the most powerful mutants not top 5 but definitely top 10💯
I'm still pissed we're getting pensioner hal Jordan
This is way better than the live action garbage
Marvel still kicking dc ass DC DOA
Penance? You need Speedball? He doesn't become Penance until after the Stamford Incident
“Youve been demoted to emthusiast.” Lolllll Johnn 😂
Is that birth sentinel not the same one that destroyed genosha in s1 or am I trippin
34:58 I absolutely love seeing Coy nerding out!
Collected Generation X for awhile which morphed into Generation NeXt, I believe, in the Age of Apocalypse storyline. That was Penance with the red-diamond skin. Loved Chamber too, and Monet St. Croix and Husk.
We saw storm in the black outfit in season 1
With lanterns, we definitely will get another trailer because this one is still labeled as a teaser by dc not a trailer
Is that how you pronounce Joe Madureira's name?
You guys need to react to the GENERATION X tv movie. If you can find it… 😀
I hate Deadpool
Finally main X-Men team members, PSYLOCKE!!!
Fyi, they did not wait. They saw the trailer .
Believe that’s called “Synergy”
WHY Yalll alwayssss lateeeee T_________T
Nathan Summers is Cable and he is the son of Scott and Madelyne. Nate Grey is from the Age of Apocalypse timeline and he is a test tube baby of Scott and Jean. Nate Summers has the Techno Virus that nerfs his abilities and Nate Grey is Easy Mode.
Danger is not an element of New Xmen. Cassandra Nova. Lots of other stuff. Danger is from Whedon's run, Astonishing X-men.
It has to be Jubilee in that first frame because Jubilee is the only xmen character to ever wear a yellow trenchcoat for their costume. And especially on Gen X she was the only one to wear at yellow trench. that's her signature. Chamber had his leather jacket and Emma Frost would wear a white blazer or a white coat.
Exodus
I'm one of those five people excited about Chamber. I LOVED Chamber
