I have an idea that I’d love to share with Keplerians. First of all, I really love the Ice Scream series and its lore, especially the ending of Ice Scream 8. In my opinion, that ending should stay 100% canon and should never be changed.
Instead of making Ice Scream 9, what if you made a spin-off based on an alternate timeline?
The original ending would stay exactly the same. Rod still dies, Nàzrat still refuses Raindrop’s request, and the main timeline remains untouched.
After that, Raindrop secretly creates a new timeline that begins in the 1950s. She’s not bringing Rod back to life or changing the original timeline. She simply wants to see one possibility: what if Rod had a different path in life?
The interesting part is that this isn’t a power Raindrop can use whenever she wants. She’s risking her own existence to do this. If this new timeline fails and Rod still becomes the same monster, Raindrop is ready to accept the consequences, even if it means disappearing forever. She isn’t doing this because she wants to defy Nàzrat. She does it because she truly believes Rod wasn’t born to be a monster—his life made him one.
In this alternate timeline, Rod still faces many hardships. He still discovers the Secret Ingredient and still goes through physical changes. The only difference is that this time he has one true friend who never gives up on him. Not a superhero or a perfect character, just someone who genuinely believes in him. In the end, Rod’s future still depends on his own choices.
The game could have two endings. A Bad Ending, where Rod still chooses hatred and Raindrop’s sacrifice is in vain. And a Good Ending (True Ending), where Rod proves he can choose a different path, making Raindrop’s sacrifice worthwhile.
I think this concept would work really well as a story-driven PC game on Steam, with deeper exploration, better graphics, more complex puzzles, meaningful choices, and a longer narrative. It wouldn’t replace Ice Scream 8 at all. It would simply explore one question that I think is really interesting:
“What if Rod had been given one different chance in life?”
