  1. Cause of the crash? Selfish dipshyts that don't deserve a drivers license at all. If they die F'em let them die. One less problem to deal with, couple hundred thousand to go.

  2. That HOV lane is notorious for people flying it. That's the same thing happened with that Tesla and the 7-car pile-up, back in like June or July. She was going about 100mph. People don't pay attention and are going too fast.

  3. speeding, reckless driving, texting, just plain stupid. Take your choice. Wonder why we have NO tailgating laws??? Way to many tourist, transplants, drugs, on the streets.

  4. Definitely speed. I've been on holiday here for a week now and I cringe every time I get on the highways here! Then there's still the damn potholes on a freeway where one travels 55 mph! Fix the dang things already. The roads on Oahu are horrible all over the island. How bout putting some of your money into repaving! Also, so many highway signs are worn away that they can't be read. Street signs faded also. Makes traveling very hard especially for visitors!

  5. While excessive and dangerous speeding is an obvious hazard on our roads, skipping the simple basics—like using your turn signal—creates constant danger for everyone. Small driving habits can prevent major accidents!
Here is a quick breakdown of essential Hawaii traffic laws under HRS Chapter 291C:
    📡 1. Use Your Turn Signals (HRS § 291C-84)
    • The Law: Drivers are legally required to signal continuously before turning or changing lanes.
    • The 100-Foot Rule: On highways and city streets, you must activate your signal at least 100 feet before making your turn or lane change.
    • Why It Matters: Turn signals give trailing traffic, pedestrians, and cyclists crucial seconds to react, avoiding sudden braking and side-impact collisions.
    🛣️ 2. Keep Right & Left-Lane Etiquette (HRS § 291C-41)
    • Keep Right: Slower traffic is required to keep to the right lanes.
    • Passing Lane: The far-left lane is intended primarily for passing and faster-moving traffic.
    • Flow of Traffic: Blocking the left lane forces other drivers to pass on the right, creating unnecessary congestion and hazards.
    🚛 3. Heavy Vehicle & Trailer Restrictions (HRS § 291C-55)
    • Left-Lane Ban: Vehicles weighing 10,000 lbs or more (and vehicles towing trailers) are prohibited from using the far-left lane on highways with 3 or more lanes.
    • Exceptions: Heavy trucks may only enter the left lane to make a left turn, exit, or actively pass another vehicle.
    • Exemptions: City buses and TheHandi-Van services are exempt.

Stay safe, drive smart, and aloha! 🤙🌺
