The 2027 Ford F-150 brings some significant engine and powertrain changes, including the new 3.0L EcoBoost replacing the 2.7L EcoBoost. In this video, we break down the complete 2027 Ford F-150 engine lineup, horsepower and torque ratings, towing and payload capability, fuel requirements, and the differences compared with the 2026 Ford F-150.
We also take a closer look at the 2027 Ford F-150 3.0L EcoBoost, 3.5L EcoBoost, PowerBoost Hybrid, 5.0L V8, Raptor 3.5L High Output EcoBoost, and Raptor R 5.2L supercharged V8. One of the biggest questions is why some Ford horsepower ratings appear different between the specifications page and the build-and-price configurator.
Another major change involves the gasoline particulate filter (GPF). We discuss the 2026 F-150 GPF, what changes for 2027, and how the emissions equipment relates to horsepower ratings. We also look at the new 3.0L EcoBoost torque curve, direct injection, 87 vs. 91 octane fuel recommendations, towing ratings, payload, and why the new engine could be a strong choice for everyday driving and towing.
The 2027 Ford F150 also adds new features and packages, including expanded BlueCruise capability while towing. If you’re considering buying a 2027 Ford F-150 or deciding between a 2026 and 2027 F-150, this video covers the major engine and capability changes you should know about.

Bring back the manual truck !
Please just say "RPM" and not "RPMs".
Question for all my fellow 2021 model F150 owners?? I have a king ranch with the V8 and I was wondering if anyone has had the same issues I’ve experienced, Window switches consistently breaking (driver door)X4 now!!! Air Damp fault code RANDOM on the freeway. Moon roof noise!!! Truck is off and clicking sound coming from engine bay. I really enjoy the truck but there has been many little things that don’t make sense for such an expensive truck
The only reason that Ford is dropping the 2.7 for the 3.0 is cost. Its cheaper to build that 3.0. The 2.7 was specifically designed as a light truck engine. The 3.0 was designed as a passenger vehicle engine.
I just traded my 2016 F-150 w/2.7 a couple weeks ago for a 2026 specifically to get another 2.7. I know that's a good engine and didn't wanna bet $60k on what I belive is a durability downgrade.
Also anyone who has a complaint about the driveability of a 2.7 equipped F-150 is just plain off in the head. Again…, the only reason for the change is cost.
The 2.7 is one of the best engines ever put in a half ton pickup. That 3.0 has ginormous shoes to fill.
If you don’t value your freedom or your privacy buy a new vehicle. Those new vehicles are spying on you. Google it if you don’t believe me.
Leave the turbocharged engines alone. For maximum reliability and longevity choose the 5.0 coyote or step up to the F-250 and choose the 7.3 Godzilla.
You lost me at “direct injection only”. NO THANKS! Walnut blasting valves at 100k when out of warranty…
D.I. is not a problem to you if you trade before 50k miles. But if you plan to keep it for 10 years D.I. and the wet belt is like having migranes and hemoriods. I'll pass on the 3.0.
Sorry, give me an engine that is Port fuel injected ONLY or it is a definite NO.
Offer a real truck engine like a small block version of the Godzilla.
ALSO ——- there is no 2.7 any more its a 3.0 now
all gas Vehicles dose not matter who makes it will have this . its government interference not ford
I want a 2027 F-150 2WD for my daily driver, BUT do not want a complicated turbo engine. Just give me a reliable V8 (meaning no rubber belt driven oil pump), and a 5 speed stick with overdrive.
Everyone freaking out about ford and their emissions changes, I bought a new f150 August 26th 2026, my truck was built on august 8th 2026, it has a 3.5 ecoboost and it doesn’t have a gpf filter on it, everyone just needs to chill out on putting these videos out getting everyone worked up over nothing!!
No V8 no rumble then no truck and no thanks
I have a explorer St had tuned for e40, it put down 573 with just an intercooler
Any fuel economy numbers yet?
My 2026 F150 3.5 eco doesn’t have the gpf. Dealer ran my vin plus I got underneath the truck to verify. I have the same hp specs as the 25 model yr. Interesting that not all model yr 26’s have the gpf . Mine was purchased in MN
Weird and i bet you paid 80+k for a raptor with a 4 cylinder what the heck ?? Is this a ranger not a f150? I am confused why would you buy a full size truck and nerf your self with a tiny motor? 🤔
I'm just glad that F-150 owners aren't going to have to deal with the auto start stop nonsense. The 5.0 is still the engine I'd take. I'm just not that big a fan of the 3.5, and I know a couple people that have had turbo issues on 3.0 explorers, along with dead cylinder issues.
Hey can you do a video of u in the ram trx 2027 nights edition red
Its the base motor its gonna be a 87 tune, raptor and st models are performance models that have 91 tunes.
Today (9/17/26) is the big day for 2027 GM truck news release. Any tidbits?
Noticed 2027 Ford F150 3.0 (325 horse/400 lb-ft torque @ 2,250 rpm's) 4X4 lists a tow rating of 8,200 lbs w/ a payload of 1715 lbs. My '23 Silverado 2.7 (310 horse/430 lb-ft torque @ 3k rpm's) 4X4 lists (right on the door jamb sticker) tow rating of 9k lbs & a 1911 payload. In 2027 the GM 2.7 displacement remains the same, but horse increases from 310 to 350 & torque increases from 430 to 440.
This is interesting…why is this happening with numbers changing?
Strange how the '26 2.7 has the same horse/torque as the '27 3.0 w/ the exception of lower rpm where the torque is produced. I anticipated this to be accomplished via increased stroke. The 2026 2.7 bore is 3.27" & stroke is also 3.27. The 2027 3.0 bore is 3.36 & stroke is 3.39. A very slight increase in stroke in relation to bore.
I'm confused w/ horse/torque number changes in regard to having or not having GPF, as the measurements are at the crank, not the wheel. So, in 2026, the engine had less performance measured @ the crank, then lost additional performance via GPF backpressure?
