77 – Ranking Every King County Metro Route #transit #seattle #shorts

I’m on a mission to ride every King County Metro route. In today’s episode, I’m riding the brand new Route 77. It travels Seattle Children’s Hospital in Laurelhurst to Bitter Lake via the University of Washington, the U District, Roosevelt, Lake City, and Pinehurst

Some of its routing is along the same path that the Sound Transit Route 522 took before it was rerouted during the service change And thanks to the Seattle Transit Measure it has pretty good frequencies reaching every 15 minutes for much of the day everyday.

It also connects to the soon to be opened Sound Transit Link Station at Pinehurst giving Lake City yet another connection to regional rail.

  1. Just rode this today! It goes right through my neighborhood n. U district/ Roosevelt. So cool to have another bus option down to connect with the 44 . It's exciting to see new routes, and nostalgic seeing the old bus numbers!

  2. Pinehurst continues to be silently delayed further and further towards the end of the year. Before this year it was expected in June/July, but this year the float keeps getting pushed.

The public opening date has been Q3 2026, but the float now extends to Q4 and radio silence from Sound Transit.

Edit: ST just announced September 30th for Pinehurst! Yay!

  3. not to mention it provides new Crosstown service for the Northend particularly from Bitter Lake and Broadview which havent had good Link access but now will once Pinehurst Station opens, honestly this route wouldve been amazing when i was commuting between Shoreline and Lake City back in 2023/2024 back then i had to use the awful Route 330 which only had 12 trips a day on Weekdays only, it was horrible

  4. A tier is fair! I still think it's lacking things but at least it provides many one seat rides and creates a connection between Greenwood Ave and Lake City Way that was impossible without a transfer! Glad to see the new crosstown 130th route. This route seems fun, I rode it on the first day and got most of the ridership at Maple Leaf. I guess Pinehurst will have bus service!

Also I didn't see this post because when you posted it I was in school since school just started today and I won't be as active as often like before in the summer.

  5. I haven’t taken it in full yet but I have taken it a lot given (at least at the moment) I’m living off it. I think I now take it more than the 72 because it gets me closer to a grocer and a closer Link station. 😂
