I handed GPT-6 Astra my raw 75 minute recording and let it edit the whole thing inside DaVinci Resolve 21.1, through the new MCP server Blackmagic just shipped. Not computer use, not a cursor clicking around the screen. I did not touch the timeline.
It ran the transcription, put the program and the screen share on separate video tracks, cut 75 minutes down to 22 across 96 edits, picked 10 screen share cutaways on its own, built a lower third, graded the footage, checked the loudness against YouTube’s target and rendered the finished 4K file.
I have been a Premiere user for the best part of two decades. This is the first time an AI agent has driven a real NLE end to end for me. It is also slower than every demo you have seen, and I show you exactly where.

30 minutes hands off or two hours doing it yourself. Are you ready to hand it all over yet? 👇
It’s amazing and you’re annoying that after 20 years your editing skills are this basic.
Got to remove a a bit of fluff on someone’s leg because I don’t know how. Took a while but did an awesome job
Whcih plan of gpt you use how much tokens used who eill tell
The only problem is that it is a bit expensive though, so you have to utilize it when it comes to something that it's easy for the AI. Because yes, a job is easy but it takes too long to do so type of job,
So it's kind of like you have to have it where maybe it looks at each individual video and understand what's about and it renames it. And I would like save like a ton of time when it comes editing and stuff and you know just etc etc,
You having it editing a video well that could help by the same time. It will waste a lot of credits sometimes if it doesn't do it right and you probably do it the whole thing again,
So you have to know your limits when it comes to what you can and can't do with it.
bro you could easily be sport commentator!
i do it in adobe its good
I am an Editor and Videograph myself and I can not understand how this can bring joy to someone. bro I am proud as f*** on my skills and I am sorry for people like you that seem like not be able to be so proud on their skill set that they say oh nice let an AI do all of that.
Bro i am happy about Automask in FCP and other single ai functions that can make some processes faster. but let me do my fckn job bro…
how can you praise that so much. I am not mad at you but I am deeply disappointed from my view of an editor and little bit as a human being.
Thumb down and stoped watching at around 4 minutes. have a good one being not an editor anymore and letting your skills fade away from now on.
Hey just make two gpt 6 astra voice talk to each other like before people did with normal but maybe this would have btter result cz of good benchmark in agi test 99.99% ☠️
Cool video. You did this using High effort levels. I'm super curious to see what the time/cost change would be, if you had ran this in Low/Medium and Extra High…
Sometimes the models on higher settings over think which causes tasks to take longer. So for example, if you ask 2+2, you want to hear 4 and the model is capable of telling you that even on the low setting but if you ask it 2+2 on High, there's a slight chance it will produce a 50 page mathematical proof that two plus two does indeed equal four.
But you cant use it on FREE davicin the mcp right ?
This is hot garbage.. the results are dead like a dolls eyes.
Have you tried the opensoruceprosjekct buttercut and let Codex build your own version of it?
Been trying it myself for about four motnhs, and although not having solved video editing for me does a great deal of the rough work.
B-roll is till pain and using gemini 3.8 flash set to high has helped a lot given its natively multimodal.
amazing 😉
The fact that it’s actually controlling Resolve through MCP instead of just doing computer-use clicks is pretty wild. And 96 edits from a 75-minute recording is impressive. Feels like tools are starting to connect in a way that actually makes sense I’ve been messing around with Krea AI for similar workflow stuff, and it’s interesting seeing this same shift happening in video.
What's missing is a step by step, hand holding video that shows all the steps necessary to setup the process you just demonstrated. I'm a good editor, a jedi master on Avid Media Composer, but new to resolve, and I failed miserably trying to download and install Chat GPT on my Intel based MAC, and when I tried to run the applet it told me it could not run on my system. It didn't tell me why it would not run of course, so I learned NOTHING ! I'm a good editor/Film Maker, but I'm NOT a software engineer ! How do I get Chat GPT setup and running on my system ? I have the studio version of Da Vinci Resolve running OK, but I'm not accustomed to using AI Agents as you seem to be. It normally takes me 3 days to ingest and log my footage, and another Day to get a rough cut up on the timeline. Using an AI Agent could greatly speed up the monotonous, procedural processes of video editing to help me to be creative in my edit without missing a deadline dealing with all of the minutia.
so it's expensive and takes longer, a bit handy for preparing multiple projects overnight that you would refine manually in the morning that if you can make more than what you spend
How much money in credits does this cost is the big question I have…
Everything is so amazing and autonomous until requirement comes in from product owners lol
It was so inaccurate 😅I ended up having to manual edit
Something to note about the small edits: this is a problem that we have to deal with in software development a lot. If you want to make a small edit, turn down that intelligence level to make it faster. But honestly if you're just doing real quick cuts, probably easiest just to do it yourself.
The way I probably will work with this (and I haven't tried it yet so I'm not sure if this is going to pan out) is I would probably make a big list of edits and then let GPT just cook. We'll see though. I can't wait to give this a shot!
How much credits such session used? Doing clean edit of the speech from 1 camera it's not taking so much time even manually, wonder if it's worth burned credits. The real deal changer would be if AI can fill your video with correctly matched B-roll. This is the most time consuming regular editing activity. But of course – optimization. It would make sense only if won't burn tons of credits.
So did I understand right that youre ai makes your b roll for you?
Welcome to the Future!
Really interesting video, but I wish you’d mentioned right at the beginning that THIS VIDEO ITSELF was edited using the GPT Astra/MCP workflow you’re demonstrating.
Knowing that from the start would have let us evaluate the editing in real time as we watched—the pacing, cuts, choices, etc. Finding out only at the very end feels like a missed opportunity, because the video itself is probably the best demo of the technology.
PS, Sorry if you mentioned that and I missed it, but at the very end you mention it almost in passing and I thought "wish I knew that from the beginning "
Now why we should hire you then if this get advanced lol
You should have your agent persist the Python scripts it's writing and improve them over time. That should save quite a bit of processing time by the agent.
I'd like to see it try something other than a talking head film… multiple clips from various locations, no audio
I've been editing so long I started out cutting film on a flatbed and splicing reel to reel tape. This is a fairly simple edit with 2 clips and a linear recording of the original shoot. I would be more interested to see how it handles a project with 50 clips, multiple takes, B-roll inserts, cutting to soundtrack rhythms… etc. There is also no way to see it's pacing and flow when you are only examining single edits. Then again talking head picture in picture stuff doesn't rely on flow like, say, a dialogue or an interview would…let alone a music video or a short film. Either way, though, it is amazing and it will save time organizing stuff and doing those grindy boring first cuts that are all about deleting the junk between, normalizing audio, etc. It may be a master editor some day just like every other skill but for now it will be a YouTuber's dream and a great assistant for the master editors out there.
The thumbnail has to be rage bait
How many tokens did this edit session burn?
What is "AGI" supposed to mean?
This is usable. I'll take this getting me 80% of the way there. Let this do the heavy lifting and then come back and take care of the details. That's a useful tool.
i would probably have chatgpt track my keylog and mouse actively and provide it with a screen record. then after i edit a few videos, have chatgpt learn my workflows and editing style, let let it have a go on its own.
A chicken getting into the KFC on its own 😅😅
Brilliant stuff. I'm headed to do it now. What were you using to record screen and your camera, just OBS?
This was so good and much needed 🙌🏽🙏🏽
What software do you use to record your videos ?
23:41 bro I love how you make me feel safe man
People make me feel bad for wanting AI to do all the stressful stuff.
I've been editing for multiple years now @jatsrfilms and mehnn rn I have soo much going on that I'll love an assistant to do the work for me lol.
Only inside a Sandbox.
Did this cost more than $100 US to do?
Its good at making sausages video I guess. So we can crank out medium good unappealing generic meat and potatoes videos and deliver content for unimaginative clients. In other words, we finally have something to do the edits nobody wants to do because its boring as fuck, and that nobody watches (except if its mandatory like in education…poor students).
Don't use max. I used it on low. Opus is fine for Claude.
Did you give claude an example of your work previously or did it literally just do this?
A turkey really looking forward to Christmas here.
Not watched yet &👍 from me, but would like to know the cost of doing the video edit
Does Noel Edmonds know you raid his wardrobe?
