  1. Don’t ever use Zelle. If you absolutely need to use it to accept customer payments, connect it to a saving acct and empty everything to the saving acct regularly. They can’t steal if there is no money there.

  2. It says to me not to do business with Bank of America. I've seen several of these news stories and they all include Bank of America and Fraudulent activity that they won't back out of a person's account. You are not responsible for fraudulent activity made on your account. The best thing anyone can do is not do business with the banks that put you in this position and will not make you whole after fraud has occurred on your account.

  3. I was notified by WF that they wouldn't be responsible for Zelle transactions because it is a third party. This was a few years ago. I deleted the app and the link to my acct and don't use it. I believe all the banks have adopted this policy.

  4. She would have gotten the same answer no matter who she banked with. This is because zelle fraud is rampant and is easy for fraudulent acct set ups. I lost $5000 in 2022. So in b of a's mind she authorized those transactions. Same happed at Citi with me.

  5. I think she should ask help from her phone service carrier to install privacy protection software. Maybe they could even help to track down the number that made the fraudulent transactions. For sure is someone inside the bank or Zelle, 🤷🏻‍♀️

  6. Happened to me with Chase. Leaked information from a data breach cause them to sign into my PayPal which is connect to my bank account (not anymore) so they were able to send themselves $1K. Chase easily gave me money back but PayPal had 0 customer support.

  7. I don’t know why anyone would use Zelle. When it was first being (heavily) promoted by the banks, I noticed that it didn’t have the protections of Venmo. It’s like saying that Disney Dollars is better than cash, and people believed it.

  8. I stopped using zelle years ago after several strangers would reach out to me claiming they wanted refunds for accidentally sending me funds. Too sketchy

  9. using zelle is almost the same as using cash… no protection from banks, local authorities nor federal laws.
some insist on using zelle to circumvent paying tax (same as cash); playing with fire.

  10. Almost always the bank will send you a text or email notifying you that your info has changed. Not sure why it didn't happen in this case. Inside job ? But why her ?

  11. I was told my mo. Opened a bank account in my name without any permission i asked and now she is a victim looking for accountability and transparency and arrest 2026 the bank closed and moved out of town Nevada county truckee California California state capital Sacramento shout out to Sierra storm wheelchair rugby team Sacramento florin rd Sacramento:) driving to el capitan California

  12. 1. Her "device" was hacked to set up the Zelle link, or she did it herself with the recipient.
    2. As this was a business account, it doesn't have the same protections as a consumer account. That is all in her account agreement.
    3. As a business, never use a P2P service like Zelle. Standard ACH pmts from customers is the way to go. And always review your account online daily. Businesses typi ally have only 2 days to report unauthorized transactions for a return or reimbursement.
