Jon Stewart Unpacks AI’s Dubious Promise of a “Better Future” | The Daily Show

As the threats posed by AI models continue to grow, AI oligarchs struggle to explain the upsides of their technology. Jon Stewart breaks down the latest tech headlines, including Trump’s refusal to regulate AI and CEOs’ awkward attempts to make human annihilation seem less scary (at least Grok can make funny videos!). Plus, Jon chats with Meta’s totally cute and totally not-sinister Muse AI agent, who makes him feel WAY better about the situation. #DailyShow #AI #Muse #JonStewart

  1. Remember the mega malls revolutionary way for America to shop? Now the majority remain vacant? Only the billionaires got richer, people got unemployed. These data centers are going to do the same thing. As long as Trump gets paid, the billionaires can have their way.

  2. Dialectics. Something's gotta give toward socialism, if not people are going to need to respond, and no one will be able to directly control that response. There will either be a controlled landing toward socialism or there will be a disruptive push.

  3. The question is what is causing cancer and heart disease to be on the rise?

According to the CDC's final 2024 data, the age-adjusted death rates were:

    1900 2024

    Heart disease 0.13% 0.158% 21% increase

    Cancer 0.07% 0.139% 98.6% increase

    Diabetes 0.010% 0.022% 20% increase

Rates are deaths per year as a percentage of population. The 1900 figures are historical registration-area estimates; 2024 figures are age-adjusted U.S. rates.

The key takeaway is that the share of people dying annually from these diseases is higher today than in these historical comparisons, particularly for cancer and diabetes.

  4. If you’re gonna ask a billionaire about job, it should be required that the first question is "name a job", and if they take more than 3 seconds, you end the interview. Hit end call, walk out of the room. None of the men in these clips knows what an actual job is anymore

  5. China won in the '90s. This is all just posturing to satisfy the masses. We could've stopped it since, but that wouldn't have been very profitable (still WILDLY profitable, mind you), so we didn't. We let it all go because they told us to. Detroit's what it is instead of what it was because they scared us. So is Los Angeles, St Louis, Louisville, Gary, Canton, Dayton, Dearborn, Weirton, Steubenville, Huntington, Portsmouth, MATEWAN!!!!, Beckley, Pittsburgh, and who knows how many other places that I either haven't seen, forgot to mention, or don't know about. 'Trust us, they're your enemy'.

'Rich man steppin' on my poor head, when you get back you better butter my bread'.

  6. Kind of insane to be completely unwilling to accept reality. Choosing to be anti ai is choosing to be miserable the rest of your lives. Like a fish who’d rather be a cattle rancher

  7. When you have thieves and criminals in office when this is happening all you get are people who reinforce the idea that socialism is bad. Once again, the worst of us ruining the name of something that no one has ever actually tried – because every time it's always some billionaire stealing from everyone.

  8. A low number like 15% can mean "I take this seriously enough not to dismiss it, but not seriously enough to act on it." That's a social move, not as much an epistemic one.

  9. People can barely survive on max unemployment benefits. What is their definition of High-income when AI is taking away our 6-figure incomes, and housing is so expensive.

  10. This is all about getting rid of 7 billion people from 8 billion on this planet. A balance of resources and availability. In other words, population control. Who will be the 7 billion? The 1 billion have their underground bunkers built and are just waiting for the collapse.
