If it’s someone’s time to die, even if it’s preventable… it’s their time to die. You can’t stop Mother Nature from it’s course. Even if you teach them how to safety and properly use something, you still cant stop fate. Kid on the E-Bike was meant to die like that. Anyways, ppl die every day. Why is this even news?

Part of the problems is the drivers. So cal is notorious for horribly impatient drivers. Stop blaming the kids. You’re the adults you need to be more careful and stop being in such a rush
Have fun with your E-bikes, but be prepared to face extreme consequences with that enjoyment 😉 Hence why we car drivers have to pass a driving test, get our license, buy insurance, pay for registration, taxes and such.

May not be just parents. In this city, a large number of homeless/unhoused people have ebikes. Watchout when coming to the Science And Discovery Center, Main Place Mall, all along N. Main Street and the Civic Center Center area of Santa Ana. Take extra care when walking as many times as ebike riders riders are whissing by on sideswalks. Many bus riders know this as they traverse to catch buses. Millions upon millions of dollars have been spent over the last ten years to put in bike lanes. End result to date traffic lanes and parking has been reduced. This has impacted safe travel for vehicles and parking nightmares. All the while, the bike lanes are more than 99.99% +++++++++ empty. Even in the big cities in China, bicycles were left behind by most. Don't even get me started on the"New" Street Car in Santa Ana at $154 million a mile. That will service? This post is by MAM a seventy year resident of Santa Ana, not Katherine. May peace be with the family and friends of all involved.
At least the driver of the vehicle didn’t flee. And stayed with the victim. I am so sorry for everyone involved. Blessings and prayers. 🕊️🌟

What I’d like to know is WHO are these idiot PARENTS buying these stupid e-bikes for their kids?! The DANGER of these stupid things would be enough for me to say no (not to mention the $$$ price!)….but I’d want my kid to get EXERCISE!! not just have an electric motor guide them!!!
You can't let these kids ride e-bikes… this is going to keep happening. They are basically motorcycles being driven at high speed but not with the other traffic. They are off to the side, in crosswalks and on sidewalks. It's ridiculously unsafe.

Should require a drivers, or motorcycle, license to drive an E-bike. E-bike users need to follow all driving laws and be required to wear a helmet if on city streets.

And police do nothing when these kids are riding with no lights tremendously fast on Sylmar , foothill between Bledsoe and Hubbard St . Someone else it’s gonna get killed if no actions are taken
They need to make laws for E-bikes they’re insanely fast and the jaywalking laws don’t help.
If the driver was arrested then you would report that so you really do know and this makes you fake news.
