Democratic Socialists are NOT socialists. Democratic Socialism is FUNDAMENTLLY different from Socialism. Fox is trying to deceive you by conflating them.
Socialism is government or social ownership of the means of production. That is NOT what Democratic Socialists advocate.

1) they only work in theory

Capitalism is a proven success in building a nation’s wealth. Capitalism is a proven failure in ensuring a fair distribution of that wealth and in preventing the abuse of individuals and the concentration of wealth and power at the top.
Intelligent, pragmatic, and civilized nations will have a free-enterprise capitalist system, but with laws & regulations (“rules of the road”) to curb abuses, common-sense social safety nets, and policies (including tax policies) that facilitate a large and economically healthy middle class.
What the U.S. has, thanks to the power of money over the election system and lobbying, is Crony Capitalism (Oligarchy/Kleptocracy), where politicians and the government serve their wealthy corporate and billionaire campaign donors, even when it hurts the middle and lower classes.
To change that, you must overturn Citizens United and reform the corrupt campaign finance system. Only the progressive wing of the Democratic Party is passionate about overturning Citizens United and reforming the campaign finance system.
