  1. Geez could there be any more steriotypical cop language? Did one curse escape in the first 10 minutes? Why is Nick wearing shoes that should be used to dance the Bolero? Too much for me. Besides, if you know the scenario, you already know who the good guys and bad guys are. I'm out at 128 min

  2. A gripping film, with excellent writing, directing and screenplay, a cult classic. Nolte, Guzman, Oneal and Assante were all in their best form. It was a pleasure to watch.

  3. Nick Nolte plays this part to perfection. He’s calculating, corrupt, unhinged, and violent and balances it all brilliantly. He’s terrifying every second he’s on screen.

  4. This picture is pretty damn good, I gotta say. Timothy Hutton is perfectly cast, here. Actual;ly, Nick Nolte is the only one slightly overboard. The rest of the cast is superb. Sydney Lumet's crisp dialogue direction is fantastic. The grimy reality of New York city is CAPTURED in this one!

  5. Things like this happened when law enforcement has too much power- they always have the ultimate power to criminals but law abiding citizens have to speak out or the streets and the money from the streets are too great $$$$$$$$$$$ remember we have rights in spite of the money money money January2026 LoAngeles California UnitedStatesofAmerica

  6. Interesting plot, bad cops and good cop, underworld of politics and crime, outstanding scenes, sets and cinematography, great cast (Nolte, Assante and Hutton) and superb performances by all actors, tightly edited/fast paced, enjoyable film of this film noir genre. Worth watching, dialogue is authentic street talk, be prepared for ethnic stereotypes spoken naturally.

Thank you You Tube for posting another of the classics from the 90s, a pleasure to watch these films of that era.
