Andrew Garfield Leads a Peasants’ Revolt in “The Uprising” | The Daily Show

Tony Award-winning and Oscar-nominated actor Andrew Garfield sits down with Michael Kosta to discuss his new film, “The Uprising.” They talk about how the peasant uprising of 1381 serves as a “long-distance mirror” to the political landscape of today, how acting serves as an empathy machine even when playing characters like Sam Altman, and what young men can learn from Carlos Alcaraz’s elegant U.S. Open loss. #DailyShow #Uprising #SamAltman #SocialNetwork

  1. I saw the movie tonight. Despite what the critics said, I really enjoyed it. To me, it was a plausible leap to imagine that the lore of Robin Hood arose from the peasant revolt. After all, the director never claimed he was making a historically accurate "documentary".

  2. I know exactly what he’s talking about! I was sudden in the middle of Boulder, Colorado. I had lots of friends. Out of nowhere. In the middle of a trauma for us all. Suddenly… Instant bonding.😊

  3. On a kind of crazy note, he actually sounds more English in The Uprising than he does in real life. Playing Spider-Man and a bunch of other American roles must've taken a toll on his native accent lol

  4. "Everything" isn't falling apart. China looks to be primed to take the reigns! Republicans always lamented how they didn't want that and then….they elected TRUMP!! And he made it happen!

  5. I have been taught at a young age, that don't try to run to the top too quickly and alone as the fall is more painful. Many rich people have taken their lives even with millions in their accounts. Money can't you happiness. Andrew is definitely grounded. Love the new look with the long hair.

  6. It keeps happening because it's human nature. People get complacent and forget that. When Democrats get into power again, they need to not only legislate to close all the loopholes that are being exploited, but tax the Rich and make sure these fundamental lessons are taught to every generation.

  7. I've always admired Mr. Garfield for his honesty, his honesty here is beyond heart-warming, he appears as disarmingly HUMAN in this conversation and is more endearing. He's a generational "everyman".

  8. People are finally talking about this astonishing and all-but-covered-up event. It cast a longer shadow through history than most people realize. It was brutally suppressed, yet in the end, after the fall of Richard II, all the reforms Tyler demanded came to pass, with the exception of the abolition of the aristocracy itself.
