The days of a crowded club of twenty-somethings seem to be drying up and bars are seeing a boom among adults from their late 40s to early 60s. The trend has some owners tapping into a more mature crowd by throwing theme nights that revel in ‘80s nostalgia. NBC’s Joe Fryer reports for TODAY.

I haven’t been to a bar in years. Sorry, but this is wishful thinking on the part of marketers.
“weve lives long enough to become target demographic”
nah, people younger than you just cant live 😂😂😂😂
Gen X'r here, I would love to go dancing and have a few but all my friends are home bodies now 😭
Def holds true for niwot Colorado 💗🫂💗
Weed is better.
Lame!
They're the only ones who can afford to 😂
Lame!
It’s a geriatric party
We Gen X’ers have earned every drop. 👍
You used to be able to goto the club with$30 and have a good night. Now you can't get but two watered down drinks with that.
So… No smartphones?
We always liked to have a good time.
I'm an elder millennial who was out at the bar on a weeknight watching a band doing covers of 70s and 80s songs so…. lol. No but really Fri and Sat nights are for the college kids and young working people here and gets rowdy. I want a mellow but loud time and its not hard to find thankfully.
Weird… I would have titled the article: " Bars aided by social and political inflexibility around marijuana have failed to serve their customer base for some time."
Perhaps even: "Alcohol monopoly destroys Americans fun by refusing to allow non-alcoholic inebriation in any public place or restaurant"
Last one: awful leaders empty bars because religious economic psychosis…..
Gen X and Millennials have better club music, and we have work in the morning so I'm down for 6pm-10pm
What keeps me from getting a drink is how expensive it is
This is absolutely Gen X lol. Gen Z and Millennials aren’t drinking
The only GenXers still going to bars are the ones that always did. Most of us got bored hanging with those losers by 22. Far more boomers day-drink.
Of course, Gen X is keeping the party alive. Who else would it be?
Savanna all smiles. She will be at the club knocking some back when she splits that life insurance cash from the kidnappers😂
Mocktails , yeah get those kids conditioned to be alcoholics.
$45 beerz n QOTSA
🤦🏻♂️
There's always been some mixed age demographics but it seems mostly like young people can't afford to do much
If someone from Gen Z doesn't want to spend money on alcohol, why tf would they spend money on a mocktail??? I'm reducing my consumption on booze, but "mocktail" prices are ridiculous. I"ll take a real drink or a glass of water, none of that middle-ground crap, thanks.
Responsible partying because we’re the sandwich gen
>reality tv watch parties
That's one of the saddest lines in this whole thing
If my generation was a human being, we would have thrown hands already.
All the young people are just smoking weed
The only problem I have with this is that these places don't care about you or your health just MONEY. Same way as if they were selling c****k c**caine.
Gen X – we like our drinks, but also our sleep 😂
I suspect an inverse relationship between marijuana use and quantity of alcohol consumed.
They don’t have money!!! They’re consuming it at home because it’s cheaper! It’s capitalism everything is capitalism
This is soooo Gen X, LOL
Let me guess…..Alcohol gives Gen Z anxiety
