A massive fire broke out at a hotel in central Kolkata early Wednesday, leaving at least nine people dead and six injured. The blaze erupted around 2 a.m. at a hotel on Mirza Ghalib Street in the New Market area.
Firefighters and police launched a major rescue operation as thick smoke made it difficult to reach people trapped inside. Around 60 people were reportedly rescued from the hotel premises.
