I have never been to San Diego Comic-Con. It's a dream of mine to go, but it's too expensive for my wallet. I usually go to New York Comic Con, and I believe it's run by ReedPop. They have a reservation system where we can book the panels we want, and those reservations are tied to our badges. When we get to the room, we just tap our badge, and it confirms that we're allowed in. They also have a standby line off to the side, but they make it clear that you can only get in if there are extra seats available. If there aren't any, you're not guaranteed a seat.
I consider myself a dedicated and loyal fan of Comic Con, but there’s absolutely no way I’d be wasting my time waiting (and hoping) to get into just one panel, when there’s plenty of other things I can do during that time.

Coveiently ignored reporting on the many fans that were promised entry but didn't get in.
12 hours just to get into one panel? Hell no!
