  1. Great video!! This is really hard for Swedes as well since we don't have a voiced z-sound at all in our language, only the unvoiced s. Listen to Alexander Skarsgård or Joel Kinnaman speak, even though they speak English fluently, they still get the z-sound wrong sometimes!

  2. If someone could help I would be very grateful. What about when the letter z is put together with a s sound, example. It was so easy.
What sound is made? Because was it's supposed to be a z sound like easy but it's put together with a s sound!

  3. I figured out teacher Rachel's lower jaw moves forward far much to pronounce /s/, and my jaw muscle is sore to practice in this way. I guess that might be why Chat GPT sometimes doesn't recognize my words with 's' or 'z'.

  4. You mean when /s/, /z/ are followed by a vowel, the tip of the tongue is down, and when it's not followed by a vowel, the tip of the tongue is up?

  5. Hi Rachel!
Thanks for sharing. It would be great to know more about the tip of the tongue position when we're using the tip of the tongue down approach. When should I point the tip of the tongue up as per the sounds around /s/ and /z/ sounds? What are those exceptions? Sometimes I don't feel sure to point the tip of the tongue down when I pronouncing /s/ and /z/ around /t/, /d/, /n/…, since the tip of the tongue is already up for those sounds.

    Thanks in advance!

  6. As a Spaniard learning English, making this difference is quite difficult. I mean, I can differentiate 'Sue' and 'zoo', but to me 'peas' and 'peace' sound the same. I've been mispronouncing them for ages ;P

  7. Great video! Just a quick question, I’ve been hearing the rules like if it ends in r, d, b, g, l…etc then it’ll be a z sound. Is that correct? what about the words like

    Letters
Papers ( usually I heard ending s sound..same as with friends.)
    Friends
    Cars
    Toys

Do they all have the z sound at the ends?
    Thank you!

  9. please respond that, i‘m confused about the z sound because some body told me , evey z sound sounds like s and z together but in weak sound and sometime it really sounds like what he said , please tell me is that true or is there only z not s and z together?
