FLUENT ENGLISH: The “H” Reduction in American English Pronunciation | Rachel’s English

If you’re studying English to become fluent you need to master a tricky facet of American English: reductions! I can help you sound more like a native English speaker and increase your spoken English proficiency by teaching you everything you need to know about the way Americans actually pronounce the H sound. You’ll see that it’s an incredibly common reduction—the “H” sound in fluent English actually disappears completely a lot of the time…I’ll show you why step-by-step. I’ll give you lots of examples of this American English pronunciation reduction and you’ll have lots of chances to practice and grow your skills. I’ll walk you through it in an easy-to-understand way and we’ll have a lot of fun, too! Becoming fluent is the aim of most English learners and I hope you’ll accept my help.

Fluent English is within your reach if you can take short lessons like this one and incorporate the learning into your daily speech. Yes, it’s going to be tough for you at first as you learn to say this word (and all reductions) in a more natural way. In fact, it’s an example of how learning real American English pronunciation may actually be made more difficult by having learned English primarily from books and from teachers who are not native speakers. You’ll need to un-learn some old habits but I’m here to help. Let’s get started!

  1. No doubt! The QUEEN of American pronunciation.
Now I can tell everybody there isn't a secret to sound fluent like a real native speaker the only you needa know is how to use the contracted forms and then liking the sounds with assimilation, elision or maybe an intrusive sound. Of course you OUGHT TO PRACTICE HARD. But do it little by little with lots of DEDICATION ❤

  2. teacher pls ❤ i follow you for long time i love you content because it's so helpful. i really need you opinion. there is a british guy has told that while dropping them that shows that you're an uneducated and uncultured person. and i aready mastered them . also could you tell me . if there an exception other than when they come in the beginning of the sentences . that we can't drop them off . or it doesn't matter what the words that i'm going to link with are ? .

  3. Rachel, thank you very much for your videos. I am only wondering, if the sentence you used in the video is grammatically correct, or if it was a spoken English. When you were in the kitchen with your friend and your baby started crying, you said: "Let me go get him." Shouldn't it be "…go getting him" or "go to get him"? Thank you very much.

  4. Dear head master ,
I hate to burst your bobble , but it is humanly impossible to put on a pure American accent passed age 13 /14.
As ur voice box already shaped.
However , with the lessons we will get close enough-I’ll give u that – but will get never there
