  1. I have one here in the UK, but the centre console on these Euro versions is much better. Mine is a more 'trendy' design, more stylised, but these Euro ones are a better design…bigger cupholders, more buttons, and the phone rest at the front. In mine I have less physical buttons, the cupholders are almost too small to be of use, and the phone rest is too far back by the armrest.

  2. "Taken by surprise"? If European auto executives are actually surprised by this, then the entire C-suite needs to be cleared out immediately.

China's EV machine didn't magically materialise overnight. They spent the last two decades building this supply chain—ironically, funded by European legacy automakers who were more than happy to hand over their know-how, outsource manufacturing, and cash fat quarterly dividend checks while turning Europe into little more than a glorified final-assembly plant.

Calling it a "surprise" is pure incompetence. And this frantic lobbying in Brussels to slap tariffs and roadblocks on Chinese imports isn't a strategic defense—it's just desperately trying to delay the inevitable. You can't out-regulate a technological lead you willingly sold off years ago.

  3. Given Germany's dystopian political landscape, which seems dead set on ensuring our energy prices remain among the highest on the planet, once these Chinese cars start landing, even with high tariffs, we will likely see a near total collapse of the German car manufacturing sector in Germany. VW and Audi have already started making China only models built "in partnership" with Chinese companies. Meaning, the Chinese manufacture did everything.

  4. I have Max version, and wpuld gladly take bigger battery and 4×4 option, and it comes with seat massage. That and adaptive suspension, perfect combo! Im not into German cars, had a bmw 3, sold it fast, its a good car, but i love SUV driving position. Had a Passat R-line, great car, but if they give us 2.0 motors with hybrid models, that would be fantastic, because we have everything and even more than we need in this Geely.
Its a fantastic car as long as you have it charged. Otherways, it gets you frim A to B when empty, it does the job. Quality is great, have no complains…
I was rather dissapointed with 3 years pld GLC, AMG trim. Except carbon interior details, napa leather and Burmeister audio, it geels cheaper and its was smaller inside. Steering wheel was quite worn out on 100.000km, which was surprise. So, great chassis, motor and suspension, but 3-4x larger price, its a no go for me. One day, maybe we could get bigger motors on Chinese cars, and that wpuld be awesome! Like new Mazda cx60, with 3.3l 6 inline, thats a monstrum!

  5. My brother who is not a car guy had his very unreliable Audi Q7 stolen so he got the Starray Hybrid on lease (factory financing 0.9%) and it’s fantastic. He’ll give it back in three years for another Chinese car.

I’m a car guy – many air-cooled Porsche and BMW’s and it’s so sad to see what’s happened to the German car industry – fat, heavy, unreliable and expensive. It’s American-style enshittification created by the relentless need for “shareholder value” using planned obsolescence.

    Glad to say, I have nothing really modern – a 70’s 911, a 1992 Peugeot 205 GTi and my “modern” car is a 2006 BMW E86 Z4M (coupe).

I will never buy a modern German car and probably wouldn’t be able to afford it – The Porsche answer to their woeful sales is to go upmarket, stop building the cars that saved their asses in the past and leave their loyal fans behind. Shame.

  6. You can set own wallpaper from USB but one trick ,if you have movie coded with AV1 codes you play movie as wallpaper .
Top version has 16 speakers ,and in headrest for navigation and call and they are great (basic has 6 speakers ) ,you can decline passenger seat with head rest remove in horizontal position and make a perfect bed for sleep .

You can also set all driving settings, safety stuff on and off and then save to one button on steering wheel.
And when you start a car just activate all that with one button

  7. If I am not wrong, Geely has a partnership with mercedes in china (supplying mercedes with small engines in Europe is also in the pipeline), and is even a shareholder of Mercedes. On the other hand they are also the owners of Volvo cars. So not surprising, and it is a mater of time that they will eat market share from established European carmakers.

  8. In Serbia start from 30k euro and waiting list is 6 months ,people who bought in March received it in September, maybe they prioritize west europe

  9. Great review as always, but I have one suggestion: you didn't mention headlight technology. If possible, test the headlights in low light, as Chinese cars often lag behind established manufacturers that offer advanced matrix lights.

  10. I’ve been driving the same car for 7 months, and the thing about the adaptive cruise control is that you need to train it to drive smoother. The more you use it, the better it performs thanks to its built-in AI. It’s a similar story with the factory navigation—if you keep it active, the system knows to charge the battery ahead of demanding highway stretches, ensuring you always have maximum power.
