Decommissioned frigate WHAT ring?
I'd just like to know why are we wasting materials by sinking ships and not recycle the materials.
prices are rising you know?
She still took a lot of hits ❤ not every ship has torpedoes maybe 😊
Modern torpedoes are scary AF…
Firing an SM-6 at a ship is just wasteful
wait you're a real person with a face?
War war war. Die die die. I know some of these things have a real place in life. Humans will never stop finding new ways to kill each other. The real question is why? And is it worth it.
It took Ukraine two missiles to sink the russian fleet's flagship, and it didn't even manage to react in time.
When it get's really fun. Is when the planned sinking fails.
As seen irl against the armed warship IRIS Dena!
HOLY HELL!!! The explosion of the torpedo was powerful enough to rip that thing in half life tissue paper.
I find it impressive to think that literally 4000 tons of naval metal can rip apart like that is just incredible, yet scary at the same time.
Besides, the only place where you think this sort of stuff happens is only on documentaries about past conflicts, not some modern-day warship.
Ukriane pretty good at this
Waste of metal. Could have just recycled it
I wonder how many decommissioned live-fire tests will be uncovered and attributed to unrelated battles in a few thousand years lol.
I've seen these before, never participated though, but I've helped prepare them. Still seems so wrong.
I think it's pretty much the scariest thing a human can see – steel superstructures weighing probably hundreds of tons being thrown about like they were nothing but plastic toys.
Where can watch this?
Ships expended in a SINKEX are often used to establish reefs and diving zones and must comply with tons of OH&S and environmental laws so will all generally have no fuel or ammunition aboard. An active warship is basically a box of firecrackers sitting on top of a 55 gallon drum of petrol – it's often a ship's own ammunition that takes it to the bottom.
Imagine what a torpedo could do if it exploded under the keel of a large cruise ship. The size and interior design of the bigger cruise ship would be its vulnerability. A couple of rogue nations operate subs
Très mauvais reportage et d’images !
À bannir
Sounds a lot like littering and sea pollution to me. Remind me why I'm getting yelled at for flicking a cigarette butt overboard?
Also, "floating" doesnt mean it can fight
Literally everyone wants a shot😂
P-8 Mentioned!
Nope, this is due to the Oliver Hazard Perry frigate being the most awesome ship ever made. It's the A-4 Skyhawk of the sea. My dad was CO of the USS Reid. I'm not biased at all. 😉
I need to see a movie with this guy as the villain and him setting traps for everyone.
Aiming high against a ship with no munitions.. lol remember Scharnhorst was lost in part because of a mission kill on its radar. Modern warships are paper, the equivalent of a Leopard tank – counting on not getting hit.
It's wild how effective that torpedo at the end is.
It takes literally so little effort to like look into this stuff…
When you want to send an enemy worship you don't aim below the water line with missiles, a missile is literally not designed to hit below the water line, because if they impact with the water they are infinitely less effective. The missiles hit into the side of the ship right above the water line which is what it appears that the anti-ship guided missiles are doing in this video.
One Harpoon is simply not enough to sink a frigate in the US Navy is well aware. The only Naval Munitions that are designed to strike below the waterline are torpedoes and if your warship gets close enough to an enemy warship that you can start launching Torpedoes you've made some serious fucking mistakes.
You even stumble into the right answer in the end. A single Harpoon might not sink a Perry class frigate, but it will normally incapacitated.
Also just because this ship doesn't instantaneously drop below the waves does it mean it's going to keep on top of them for very long. Sinking a ship takes time and when there's no munition stores to explode aboard the vessel you can't wait for the fires to cause an explosion.
If I a random nobody no more about this situation inherently than you the person who posts a video after supposedly doing research then why on God's green earth should I ever watch your content? Not least of all the issue with your lack of accuracy.
I wasn't expecting to see your face.
Wrong
There was the carrier (America?) thst finally had to be scuttled because the sinkex failed.
They only do this for smaller ships, if thet do it at all. Most surface fired weapons could damage themselves, or worse, upon trying to breach the surface of the water due to their speeds. Its like jumping off the golden gate bridge and hitting the water at speed vs a diving board. Thats why most surface fired weapons tend to impact at, or just above the water line. Explosives are still going to rip a hole in the hull that extends below it.
An SM-6 is an anti-air missile…
USS Liberty POV.
The British and American militaries do not give a rats ass about pollution and the environment. The deep sea must look like a big trash dumb by now.
Another bullshit video….
Finding Nemo if it was in the Middle East:
USSLIBERTY reufsed to go down.
not what you sink
So we're wasting a beautiful ship that could be reused for either tourism or scrap AND polluting the ocean with debris? Cool
Would sinking boats like this not displace water and cause the water to rise (all be it minimally)
Also, the Ship is 100% empty of munitions and other explosive materials. Majority of the ships that were sunk in the past, weren't from the initial strike, it was from a round hitting a Munitions room which would immediately turn the ship into past tense in said explosive cook off.
Remember Falkland War.
1 missile was enough to destroy a frigate.
maasssssssssssssss
one word. empty magazines… thats two.
This is what I call littering the water bodies, also that not only it, we have also got space littering, seriously so disappointing by these greedy people
That torpedo hit is what we just did to that unsuspecting Iranian Frigate the IRIS Dena, except we used two torpedoes and the ship sank in about three minutes.
