How to Light Your Charcoal Grill Naturally without Lighter Fluid

Skip the lighter fluid and use Chef David Rose’s natural method for lighting your charcoal grill. Lighter fluid contains chemicals and additives which will affect and alter the glorious flavors of your Omaha Steaks proteins. Instead use all-natural charcoal starters or olive oil. To use olive oil to start a fire, soak charcoal with 1/3 cup of olive oil and saturate four to five paper towels with 1/3 cup of olive oil. Light paper towels and top with three to four coals. You’ll have a fire in no time.

  1. I started up mine with paper at the bottom then adding small twigs then bigger thicker tree branches and used vegetable oil as a sorta starter fluid . then charcoal of course . Got it giving tremendous heat with red hot coils

  2. Heck ya! Just got my first charcoal and used the chimney with a paper towel covered in olive oil. Then built a charcoal pyramid over the lit paper towel, worked like a charm!

  3. But paper towels contain chemicals. Traditional paper towels often contain dyes, inks, fragrances, chlorine bleach, formaldehyde, and adhesives. These chemicals are used in the manufacturing process to enhance the paper's appearance, strength, and absorbency

  4. ANTON! Get Slimmy off here FAM!! Out of all the panels I’ve watched, this dude is literally worse than a damn sensitive woman. I know he doesn’t get women or can even keep one Fareal. Dude is a GIRL

  5. I’m watching to see a easier way to start without lighter fluid or oil but to point out an error the smoke composition the charcoal produces once it’s turned into some white cooking coals isn’t any different from using lighter fluid or not; the use of lighter fluid should be absolutely avoided outside of starting the fire with coals but it does not effect the smoke taste coals or flavor

  6. BS. Once your charcoal is white the lighter fluid is gone. Please do not do olive oil. Olive oil is expensive AF and you will be wasting money. This will be especially true if you use "real" olive oil which is way more expensive than the fake stuff that says its olive oil that you find in the stores.
